What's the temps? Pans are extremely aggressive at around 78F. That's what I like to keep my room at

I really should've considered the temp issues when trying to grow pans. My WBS jars just won't colonize and they've been sitting for over a week with a clean agar wedge in each.
Winter season is best saved for growing some nice thick cubensis fruits!

I doubt temp is your problem.
Panaeolus will still grow in cold temps. Before I got a space heater I kept my place chilly. (66-68°F) and they grew just fine, alot slower, but fine.

This is the only promising growth that I see so far. I wonder how long it'll take to fully spread around the jar.

Uhhh. 75% of those grains look burst. Which is probably contributing to the sluggish colonization.
Any how, I'll be growing pans all winter long!!

I keep all my colonising plates at around 60 F. My pans are still colonising faster than my cubs. It might just be genetics. I grew some cyans from wild spores last year. They colonised verry slowly on agar, grain and manure at both high and low temperatures.

You've had a single pan dry out to 4 grams? I've never had a single dry pan heavy enough to register on my scale.

lol My mistake, meant ".1-.4G" But my Panaeolus come out quite thick, sometimes dense with little to no hollow action going on within the stipe.
I've never gotten those spaghetti noodles I've seen with other grows.

Why did you tiger drop into that batch of jars if you knew majority of the grains were burst?! Sounds like wishful thinking..
If it was my first time with Panaeolus I'd make sure my grains were prepped perfectly.
I got tired of burst grains. Even 2% struck a nerve.. So I transitioned over to RGS. No soak, no simmer.. Just load grain, water. gypsum..shake it all up && then PC.
(&&by no means do I mean any disrespect from this post.. Its hard to capture ones personality through the inter-web. If I came off as being rude I do apologize)

Hey MAD, here is what I was talking about (Wall of text)
Here are the transfers from your Jamaica pan:
Here is one transfer from the G2A plates:
Basically, I am wondering why the new plates are so whispy. The transfers were taken from spots that were thick, so it doesn't make sense. The agar is almost the same mixture, a premix, with the same amount of nutes and agar.
What as ive been noticing, is my pan plates that are growing really thick, are on thicker poured plates. All my plates, even of the same strain that are poured thinner are not as thick(the myc)
2 more questions:
Is this plate usuable, do you see the little dot on the bottom? Its white, didn't see any bacteria when I looked at the plates each day.
This one as well, look at the difference between the two sections and the ring between them, doesn't look like there are any differences between the two layers

Questinon about pans, how do you get them big and thick and chunky? I heared they grow really well on poo and really bad on pf tek cakes.
