Love em! And your work too Mary! That’s what my first few generations looked like as I isolated I’ve actually lost a lil but if the red color. These are Australian right? Here is my aus culture first gen you can see the red clearly now it’s much harder to notice.

Mary - in your casing you mention adding CaCO3 to get to pH 7.5. How are you determining how much that is? Are you doing multiple slurries to test this out? Approximately how much would be needed for X quarts of 50/50? Just so I have a starting point.

Awesome as usual mary. Love those rusty colored spores that blew out on that one cap there. I bet if you get some prints they are going to be beautiful! I can hardly wait to see 'em.

Thanks guys! Just started with a print- I don't know anything about the genetics /generation-was originally from VL via Asura. I started with these on agar as well as Hawaii & Estero- the only reason I chose to work with these over the others was because the phenotype looked pertier. I really like to have better intel. on them- but maybe I'm a bit too lazy to do any research,LOL.
Regarding all the prints from wild spores.... it would be great to have more information on recording: the source of the original print or swab and the generation time. For naming, that can the fun part. Ex. if the source of the starting print was a pile of horse poo in a field close to the home of a favorite poet you could name it after them!
It would be awesome to develop a library that can provide more info on newer Pans.
BTW- Jake- aside from some fantastic results- your advice & pointers are SOLID!

Hey 34, Of late i've been paying more attention to my case recipe- specifically the PH, after all the case lays on top of the surface of the mycelial cake, right at the point where budding happens. I recently got a PH probe/meter that allows one to determine the pH of a hydrated case, or for that matter, a soil sample or substrate without having to make a slurry, as long as the sample has some water in it.
Lately i've been changing up how I make the case but its not quite dialed in yet. This is the recipe I used the last time I made it:
1.4L peat ,1.4L verm, 1100ml distilled water, 23g calcium carbonate, 2.15g calcium hydroxide- this got it to a pH of 7.4. So per liter of hydrated 1:1 peat /verm it translates to 5.9g calcium carbonate and 551mg calcium hydroxide. 1liter is ~1 quart.
To determine how much to add I didn't do anything real careful; just kept adding the CaCO3/Ca(OH)2 to the hydrated case and kept testing it with the pH probe till it reached the pH I wanted.

Oooooooh - I love the new toy! The interchangeable probes for different applications is awesome. Very nice... Thanks again for the info!

Beautiful fruits Jake and Mary, wow!!
Here's an update on my fruiting – tiiiny in comparison, but I'm proud of them nonetheless lol
I decided to leave the fan off at all times – some fruits were drying out and turning blue. Many small pins seem to have halted growth. I'm increasing the temperature as much as possible to see if this will help them mature. Still keeping the casing wet with a syringe. Interestingly, the tub seems to perform better when I don't mess with this at all lol, or maybe it just seems this way.

good job on those. Just getting mature fruits is an accomplishment. How long after casing did you get pins? Ive got my first try cased, so just wondering what to expect...

Considering the low tek approach used those results are impressive.

Well I haven’t completely given up on my current tray of Aussies, but I prepped 2 myco bags last night using the recipe @MaryFairchild used on her Aussie grow.
I have some Pan Hawaii Big Island on agar and a MS of Pan Cam Sandose that needs to be used so those will be my next two attempts. Also going to put the Aussie print @Asura so generously sent me on agar tonight to get it ready to go for attempt 5, I believe, of Pan Australia. Very frustrating, but I’ve learned something new from each failed attempt. I refuse to let these get the better of me, lol.

Thank you! I think it was about 10 days following casing
BTW my room temps are averaging between 75 and 79F, room RH 25–30%
~
And thank you Asura, Mary!! That means a lot Achieved through your and Jake's kind guidance and knowledge
Next time hopefully I can improve, with a more carefully composed casing following your recipes (my casing ph this time was approx ph8), cleaner spawn, and gained knowledge of how to dial these in better
Also, let's see if I can get more flushes after this one!
