Also since you don’t have a system for the replacement of your evaporated moisture be sure to check it several times a day and rehydrate after pins use a hypodermic needle to ensure you don’t get them wet. Also do you have a fan in that room in my experience just having filtered holes and relying on the Thermo dynamics of the tub design Does not give you enough fresh air to achieve their evaporation you want I have never attempted a grow in a dub dub though but that was my issue with the mono. But having a fan in the room keeping all that air circulating well definitely makes a difference. Ime the aussies do better around 82-85 F But that can get expensive lol hope this helps keep us posted, I know sum 1 else who is dead set in fruiting pans in a dub tub. They have failed for about 8 months now (over drying mostly) his last attempt he loaded perlite into a large dub tub and loaded with trays. His sub is still drying out. But I also know it has been done (maybe those ppl lived in a humid region or something.
Thank you for the advice! I can crank my temp to 80F, but this is also my bedroom, so it would be kinda unpleasant for me lol.
With regards to the height of holes, I thought that maybe this is an out-of-date approach, based off all the recent successful cube grows in unmodified tubs that have zero holes ...? Also considering the distance between the holes and sub isn't that much. But I know that pans are more demanding when it comes to FAE.
I might start running my fan in the room. The relative humidity in my room right now is 26% (much higher in summer). But I might get a humidifier to help
Shotgun chambers and more elaborate kinds of setups are too big/messy for many people, living in small apartments etc. Obviously this is the appeal of shoeboxes and mini monos. So I have my fingers crossed!

Yeah their fruiting is quite different from cubes. If you have really good genetics I’m sure u can pull a full fruits but not near what you could get with more appropriate conditions. I’m sure it can be done just tinker with it and try to make a high evap compact grow tek. Look forward to seeing what u come up with

Ha I'm still cleaning up my culture. I have 2 grows ahead of those that I need to get done: Bisporus, then pan alabama. Hopefully it will be ready to roll then.

So here is an interesting bit of information as I’ve continued to push my evaporation and fresh air farther and farther my pans have done better and better however the tamps seem to have hit a wall and now are actually doing not as well as my last grow which was about 2 less air exchanges and approx 20% less water replacement. Same iso as the last dish. I have increased my temperature since the last Tamp grow also by a few degrees but I don’t think that is it.
Here they are now they looked like the pic in my sig at about this time in on the last run

Thanks!
So here I am at 3 days after introducing into fruiting conditions.

Even when running a fan, I'm not getting any "dry rings" around my holes, which suggests that most of the air is being drawn in/out of the crack where the lower tub meets the upper tub. The surface seems to be retaining moisture, with small droplets on the myc. I'm misting lightly once per day. Room temp is now 77–79F.
Maybe I'm being impatient, but I'm concerned I'm not getting enough FAE to the surface, as Jake is predicting. Perhaps the air is circulating more in the upper section of the tub and not reaching the sub. I'm thinking of removing the upper tub all-together (the height is unnecessary for pans), and drilling clusters of 1/4" holes – one cluster on each side – like Pastywhyte shows in his mini mono's piece:

And then adding/removing micropore tape to these hole-clusters as needed.
Or: Just flipping the shoebox lid upside down. These seems too easy though :/ But maybe I'll try two this way

No expert, but I think those top holes aren't going to do too much. But can't hurt. My thoughts are air will take the the path of least resistance. Could increase the gap in the dub tub with spacers. Or put your micro taped holes down in the bottom tub.

Looks like you have dialed in your environmental conditions perfectly! Those Aussies are so willowy they want to tip over- I DON'T think that has anything to do with something amiss with the air/humidity. My first flush wanted to tip over also but the 2nd flush was not tipsy, & produced caps that rapidly spread out.

Jake those Pans look fantastic! Hoping to ever get somewhere close to that too!
Put some tissue of my Pans on agar some ten days ago at rt. They look like this now:

Btw: I am a total noob to the hobby and to agar. They all look pretty much the same. The color is whitish but they don't look fluffy at all. I read that Pan mycelium looks very different from Cubensis mycelium so I would love to hear from any of the Pan. growers if you think they're any good or not..
Some advice please?

They are now between 65 and 72. Will keep them warmer then! Thanks.
Put them in my growcabinet as that is the only hotter space in the house
