After the first flush (1.8 grams dry) from both kits, it now remains pretty silent. How long after harvesting does one usually get to see new pins? Any thoughts?
On my last pan grow, first flush took 6 days, second flush 4 days and the third flush took 3 days. Pins after the first flush should show ~12 hours later.

I wanted to thank jakeoncid for helping me out. I have been trying to get my 15 year old pan print to germinate for months without any luck . Jakeonsid sent me a beautiful dark print from one of his pan isos he is working on. He was a genuine great guy to talk to . And I can't wait to work with these. If you ever need something let me know, I really appreciate your help.
Thank you.

ive noticed that pans really enjoy a soak ive tried getting by with heavy misting but the second flush looks much better after a good soak

Brain Bulb said: PINS!!!! Finally have some fruits starting on my Aussie tray. I know it’s only a couple but I’ve put a LOT of work in to get to this point. Lots of trial & error as well as fine tuning but I finally have pins!! Have my COE’s from this tray so the next one should be even smoother.:-)
well done brother!! Congrats!!! best feeling in the world is finally getting a species you have been struggling with
Thanks Jake! Definitely a good feeling.:-). Just started cultivating going on 5 months ago now and have been trying various methods on Pans. Another good feeing is that this was my first successful LC!
Blue/gray pins are popping up all over now! A few more on the brown side, but I’m relieved to finally have have fruits growing.
I need to keep the casing wet correct?

Back off on the water now so u don't abort them or contaminate the casing. Water the casing with a syringe if it gets dry.

Then I think after reading your and Jake's comments that I have not wetted it enough after the first flush, which was last monday. Just saw one lonely little pin coming up. Can I still soak or mist now?

I’m ready to try my hand at pans. What are the major differences in growing? Standard shoebox with coir okay?

Real nice work Jake !
Here is an update on my pan cyan aussie grow. Photos taken 2 days after spawning.
2 shoeboxes at 1:1 spawn:substrate ratio 2 shoeboxes at 1:2 1 aluminum tray at 1:1
I realize these ratios are much higher than standard practice in this thread, but I ran out of time to make more substrate, and I have come across successful grows on the forum at these ratios (1:1 - Shea25; 1:2 - prismism). The photo of the surface below is one of the 1:2 ratio substrates. Interestingly, it looks much more fluffy than the surface on the 1:1 ratio substrate, I'm guessing it's happier because it's got more manure to feed on..?
I'll case these with Asura's recipe (pasteurized):
Quote:
260g vermiculite 280g peat 800g distilled water 60g calcium carbonate .6g calcium hydroxide
Then I'm planning on making dubtubs with these shoeboxes, with 4 holes in the upper tub, as per this stonesun grow
And with the tray, putting a grocery bag over it, as per Bod's shoebox method
Or maybe I just put bags on them all..?
Any comments on this plan would be most welcome
Thanks for all the great advice and inspiration in this thread

ive cut my spawn in at 1:1 its fine i just increase the amount of manur in my bulk. ur good on the casing mix, ive never tried in a dub tub but i will say that in a mono i was very surpised at the amount of FAE they want. i pretty much had to have a fan pointed directly at tubs lol which is why i now have that heavily modded monstrosity lol. once you have ur tent dialed in i think that is easiest. the mono tubs def give u the largest yeilds but every unmodded mono pan grow the sub dried out and the fruits fried 3/4 thru the 1st flush. (Unless u wanna needle water several times a day.) always cool seeing it done a different way tho. give it a shot just try to think of ways to crank ur fae.

Stonesun has a bunch of pan grows in dubtubs. He modified the top tub with polyfill holes on all 4 sides.

I am curious to know where folks are sourcing their manure.
I've been using bags of steer manure from my local gardening store which I dehydrate so that I can be accurate with my measurements. I haven't had success in my pan grows yet and I'm wondering if I need to experiment with different sources of manure. Thoughts?

Mine comes from a feed store. there are lots of horse and cow farms near me so its quite cheap and works amazing. my mom teaches horsback riding lesons ans breaks horses so ive spoken to several of her clients and i allowed free access to all the horse poo i need lol. i just have to go out and consolidate in in the sun so it can dry. i already have 2 big piles of it ready to go (came that way) here soon i will have my site finished and pay sponser fee i will have pre made subs and 20 lb bags of poo for sale.

I've noticed that pan cultivators use a relatively shallow substrate. 1.5-2.0 inches seems to be the norm.
Can someone explain why the substrate depth is so much shallower than cubes?
thx!
