Lookin good dude. Where are those genetics from? We were talking a page or two back about the everyone having a certain vendor batch that was causing mad overlay.

Thanks Jake, I'll be juiced if I can get some caps like that! I was inspired by your success with a mono. I'm hoping I can get a few prints off these on a later flush if it survives.

Thanks Nube, yeah I didn't plan on not casing but once i saw pins thought fuck it. And yes just bagged poo (says "steer manure" on it) and verm at a 1:1 ratio, pasteurized. I'm not sure if it would be better to case after I harvest these, but I'll probably just see what happens. The patches that are lightly colonized are lookin pretty dry. I'm not sure if pans respond the same way as cubes to contamination, in that they'll fruit before full colonization if pressured by it, but when I saw these pins I immediately assumed trich was comin to town. I'm still pretty suspicious...

Thanks Ricky, it's from that same vendor lineage. I think it was blue helix who said consolidating helped, but of course he does bags so I'm not sure it that translates the same to spawning a tub. I just cased the second one that looks like it wants to overlay so we'll see if letting it sit fully colonized for a few days slows its casing consumption down.

I am planning on making some substrate for pan cam goliath. i have a bunch of g2g jars colonizing nicely, on the advice of nube424. thanks for that.
Ive seen varying recipes on here. My available ingredients are horse manure, cow manure, verm, straw, gypsum.
I am wondering if anyone has a recipe that they have found that works for this species? a ratio would suffice nicely. I attempted to use "manure based mushroom substrate" bought online and it did not go well.

Think I finally got my field capacity right. Actually had to add a little water after letting my sub pasteurize. Squeezed it as hard as I could and barely had water come out. No water drops, just showed between my fingers and soaked back into the sub when I opened my hand. Used 60:40:10, Hpoo:Coir:Verm sub with 1:1 spawn to sub ratio.
Spawned into a 3qt glass tray and left the top layer open to colonize. (I think this may have been one of the issues in my previous runs. I always added a top layer at spawning, then I would add a casing layer as well). Covered the tray with plastic wrap, made some small cuts in it and put the tray into my FC with fresh perlite.
These are from last night:

And these are after 18 hrs:

Now it’s all about maintaining surface conditions. This is the most progress I’ve seen in 18hrs so I feel like I’m on the right track. I’ll add my casing after fully colonized.

yeah ive been running 60% CHOPPED straw, 35%poo (70/30 horse over cow most recently) and 5% verm. pasteurize (im running a sterile bag now to see if it out preforms the pasteurized bulk) then cased with 50/50 peat verm balanced to 7.5. I have lots and video's and pics if u check out my pan Australia thread https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25698246

Pastorizatuon is easy you just want to hold a core temp of 160°F not exceeding 170°F. I use an electric multi cooker it’s “keep warm” mode holes exactly 162°F. However there are other ways of doing it if you fill a pot up with water at 180° and drop your bulk in it drops the temperature about 15° then your first time you have to stay with it to figure out what Setting your stove needs to be on to hold that temperature have a pitcher of water ready to cool quickly if you need to however it’s not the worst thing in the world if the water goes over 170 for a few minutes once you get a system down it’s actually really easy I have always had better luck with pasteurized substrates in my experience they are more resistant to contamination however I have yet to get a full canopy this likely is a matter of genetics but I’m still going to look into it and run a couple sterilized ops Yes I feel a bucket up with straw then I have a big pair of shears I sit on the edge of my bed and chop it for an hour while I watch TV there are faster ways of doing this but I don’t have a Weedwhacker at the moment and it’s really not that bad you kind of just zone out and it gives you strong hands

Hmmm, I’m thinking a soul vides would be perfect. It can hold at 160 for as long as it needs without worrying about over cooking it. How long should it hold at 160?
I’m not there yet, still working with agar, just planning ahead.

Yep I run mine for 12 hours put it in before I go to bed take it out the next day that way I know that my core held a temperature of 162°F for at least an hour you won’t do anything bad by cooking that long as long as u stay between 160-170

Awesome, I love anything I can set and forget. I’m really good at the forget part so I’ve found the sous vides to be a real good tool for me.

Sous video? And yeah the pasteurization is set in forget however the pans themselves will require lots of attention I check the moisture of my sub 3-5 times a day (probably overkill but I have my fae way up to keep my evaporation constant) but u gotta be careful doesn’t take long to fry em. Good luck brother feel free to hit me up if u got questions

I've purchased a ph tester so I can be precise with the casing. No more corner cutting.
My Two modified shoe boxes are looking good with surface growth. Will post pictures later all going well

So, I'm having a HORRIBLE time getting my spores to do anything on Agar. I am sitting at 8 days with no myc. Pan Trop (India) and Pan. Cyan (Jamaican) on agar recipe 400ml water, 6g agar, 6g lme. Other myc (cubes and oysters) love this recipe.
Should I just wait? Jake mentioned something to add that starts with a "P"... do I need that? Should I just go straight syringe->grain? Any advice?
