All my other endeavors are failing...oh well that's how u learn.

High mountain compost isn't really colonizing very well.

The rye berries I made ended up too dry and the mycelium may also be weak from too many g2g's so it's not growing well...and there's spots of green mold here and there in the jars. Guess I shouldn't do the g2g in open air either...a sab is better.

If you want success, it's better to do the things that improve your chances...of course. I'll be doing more experiments in the future.

LOL I'm terrified of G2G even in a SAB... let alone open air!

As a general rule anytime something contaminates that’s it. throw it out... you are just going to spread contaminants if you try and scoop it out or something. the only exception to this is if you were like a day or two away from harvest and there is a small patch.  in that case you can dump salt on it (or some people say peroxide I always just use salt) it will buy you about 48 hours. But you can’t scoop out the contaminant no matter how small it is with a spoon and you can’t isolate the healthy looking grain in a jar with a contaminant in there and expect anything other than contaminated bulk a substrate a couple days. Really the only way to save something that has contaminated is to move it outside if it’s the right time of year

Yup. I suggest pasturizing it but I never have. Idk if it makes a difference for mushrooms but bovungs nutrients are 1•1•1 whereas black kow is .5•.5•.5

What do you guys think? Mold or bruising? Put the added topsoil on anyway and put both kits on the shelf in their bags

It looks like bruising. But the overlay on that tray looks horrible.

Thanks for taking a look at it. Yes that overlay does look strange. But since I am a total noob in this field I better ask you guys. Keep you posted!

Damn, I wish I would have asked for one if only for the cool packaging! Lol

I put new spores of pan jam to agar yesterday.  Hope it comes out a lot whispier than my last attempt you guys thought might end in overlay.

Poo question.  Being a big time procrastinator, I have waited until the last minute and have some Pans I want to spawn.  Is store bought manure (black cow) a decent choice, or in your guys opinions there is a better substrate option.  I know horse is good, but I don't have any dry and ready to use.

If u use how manure u need to cut it with coir or verm to fluff it up a bit. It can work. But it mostly comes down to skill.

Hey all,

I'm just trying Pans (Hawaiian) for the first time. I got a MS syringe from a sponsor and swabbed some of the solution onto an MEA plate. I did this alongside some cubes I am working with. The cube plates took off no problem but I haven't seen any growth on the pan plates after 10 days.

Just wondering if it is normal to have problems with pans germinating on MEA and what others might suggest I try for the next round.

Thanks in advance.

Thats the exact problem I always have with pan cyan vendor syringes. They'll germinate in manure cakes alright but never seem to take to agar unless swabbed from a print. (or some say if you squirt a fuck-ton of spore solution onto agar you'll get germination)

or perhaps try an lc then take that to agar

You just reminded me. I have a pan Hawaiian syringe that I couldn't get to germinate on plates. I'm pulling that
sucker out right now to dump to an LC.

that's odd ive never had this issue with pans... i didn't know it was a thing. are you sure you broke up the spores in the syringe? the pans should germ as fast if not faster than cubes. you could try and raise the nute lvl in ur agar but i doubt that is your issue. still the only thing left to do if u want to try again with that ss is to hit more dishes so u might as well try running ur nutes up some. if you still don't have any luck pm me i don't have pan Hawaii atm but i got pan aus prints, im sure we can work something out.

I got one hawaiian fruit to maturity, standing in a graveyard of hundreds of aborted pins. And I got one tropicalis to maturity, rising from a bed of trich. I'm surprised I got pins at all tbh - these are the results and final remnants of multiple projects based on a foundation of improperly sterilized grain-water LC. A long and hard lesson learnt. I take the single fruits from each as a sign of encouragement to try again

I did six grows of pans before I started getting anything remotely respectable. It can take some time to learn
how to grow these.

We all probably have the same Hawaiian syringe.  :rofl2:

I haven't gotten anything good out of it yet.  Doing some transfers tonight of what germinated.  Last time I tried, nothing good came out.
