And that's just what I do when I don't have anything ready on agar, but have an extra jar. I'd much rather sacrifice 1 temporarily to have 10 in its place.
Or lose 11 to hidden contaminants
Aussie came yesterday (thx again asura) will put to agar soon
I've never lost jars to hidden contams yet (knock on wood). Obviously I only would g2g the cleanest looking of my jars.

You know what you're looking for... I've seen some ugly jars thrown up as masterpieces just not knowing any better... I'd definitely post a pic of each side and have someone eyeball it first

Yeah... there was a lot of things that I thought were "totally fine" for a very long time. Finally got "the eye" for this... which means I throw out way more jars now. But also they pretty much stopped going green in the tub.

Now to get it down to losing little to no agar ... I found a fan that may or may not work for a flow hood... need to wire a cord in and see if it's even got enough ass

Yeah... I'm not great at agar... but when it's clean it's clean!
Also, I've been eyeballing THIS all day drooling at $235 shipped to US. I don't really have room for this at my house though.

Yeah thatβs not a FH cheapest I ever found was $450 but Iβm glad I spent the extra 200 and got this $650 shipped (eBay) brand new 2 speed work light and uv light front sliding glass door, outlet in the work space, no sharp edges sealed properly and neatly. I was only able to find three reviews for it online too bad and one good but I absolutely love it it has given me no problems and does exactly what it supposed to
How thick is the filter on that thing?

So, to be fair if you buy this from a non-Chinese location (i.e. the US) this is about that exact same price. Around $600.
It seems to be the size of a mono-tub, yeah. It has a few filters in it and a fan. Will it work? No idea. I'm still doing research, but it seems kinda possible. Also, that price doesn't include any customs/terrifs/whatever, so it may end up more on the back end, but likely still $300 on the top end.
The reason this thing exists is to work on cell phone screens, so no one is really commenting on how well it prevents the things mycologists will need. Might it be just what we're looking for as amateurs? Maybe!
Here's a video of it getting assembled:

I've been spawning g2g for about 9 months on this pan jam now and maybe the myc is getting weak and that's why i've had trouble colonizing the sub. Now I know...just 3-4 g2g's and then start from print again. The high mountain compost isn't colonizing very well (11 days after spawn and 30% colonized).
How much yβall pay for 50 lbs of poo? I donβt know if Iβm allowed to sell poo or not lol but if I am Iβll cut price in half I get for next to nothing

ShaperDreaming said: So my Pan Trop agar plate still isn't looking good. No growth at all for anything I'd be confident calling mycelium. I mixed up a different agar recipe (switching grain water for LME), and I'm going to use an inoculation loop to try to get another plate noc'ed up tomorrow night. Fingers crossed I grow more than bacteria this time.
Late to see this, but I use a simple/standard LME recipe that always works for me, for pans and cubes
5g agar agar 5g Light Malt Extract 250ml tap water (few drops of greeeen food dye )
Dissolve agar agar in boiling water on stove, then dissolve the LME into that mixture
This is enough for 16 pasty plates
And I always use a sterile 6" cotton tip applicator instead of an inoculation loop β maybe this is wrong, but it always works for me
I've also stored pan cultures on this recipe for 6+ months in the fridge with no problems

Similar recipe. I do everything using 8g MEA/500ml water. There is no reason to start playing mad scientist with agar recipes unless you are getting zero results.
