HEY YOU GUISE!!!
Got 4 plates like this, problem is i think the bacteria may have hitched a ride. Luckily, 3 or 4 of the G2A plates are growing as well, took a while but it is.
What do you guys think that ring outside the myc is?

More myc just spread a bit thinner. If you look closely you can see it on moste plates. If it were bacteria it would be more speratic and less radial.

good to know, should I transfer again quickly or wait for it to grow out again a little bit? Im thinking I should wait another 2 days before transferring it again.

These Jamaican cyans are quick on agar.

A couple of plates have some golden color areas in them like Mexicana gets, is this normal for pans?

Bisporus has been a bit slower and wispier for me.

I would definitely transfer some wedges from that Jamaican plate. Make sure to cut a small piece from the very edge, to avoid any contams that might have been colonized over in the center of the plate.
That Mexicana plate looks like it's definitely harboring some bacteria. Yellow is not a good sign. You may still be able to take some wedges and clean it up further.
The bisporus plate is okay. Let it grow out to the middle of the plate, then take a transfer.

Yeah, that top Jamaican plate got a little ahead of me. That one was transferred the day before that bisporus, and was put to grains right after I took that picture. They are both two or three transfers in from the germ plate.
The middle plate is Jamaican cyan too, it just looks a lot like Mexicana/tamp/atl7. It could be bacteria, but it looks more to me like the gold or brown colors that the myc from that family can get. It might be hard to see that because of my shitty camera plus I'm holding it in front of a light. Two out of about 8 or 9 plates have that going on. The more linear sections have the most color.
Speaking of that, I'm curious...which type of panaeolus mycelium typically shows stronger fruiting characteristics- the linear or cottony type?

You can't tell how a culture us going to fruit by the way it's mycelium looks.

Interesting. I was thinking along the lines of how most people usually look for the rhizomorphic sectors with cubes, but now that I'm thinking about it more...I've had a couple cube plates with little to no rhizo get a decent amount of knots and pins after leaving them sitting around for awhile.
I think I remember hearing that colored myc can be a good trait in stone species, that the colorful cultures usually fruit better. Most of the (p. galindoi) stone clones I took that didn't get bacteria have a decent amount of color in them.
I've just been grabbing the fastest edges with pans.

Rhyzomorphic growth doesn't have anything to do with a culturesoverall performance. I've never seen a stone producer that didn't have orange or yellow mycelium on agar.

oh phew. I'd been wondering why my old mexicana plates were yellowing so severely.
