@MF

Went to pick up some 4qt glass trays and Walmart’s all out.  Would metal trays work?

Dollar Tree has Surefresh 14.6 cup, 3445ml plastic trays that will hold almost the same volume as 4qt. glass baking dishes.

I think it’s normal I’ve had this happened to mine often when they colonize the whole plate and sit

I can't tell from the pic but when a Jam colony starts to age often it blues:

But not always- it depends on the genetics.

The overlay is going a bit mental. Any suggestions on if I should take any action or just leave it?

I've got this once. Case them again with CVG, then extremely fan them, I used a lil PC vent to do this for me

I'd like to say that the mycelium needs to stay undergroud, so a little lower RH is also apprechiated.
After pins formed keep them in 20-24 C then not mist them, maybe just the wall of the tub as said before by others
Or mist but fan them drip free.

This is a little bad project and not the best pic, but you can see, not much mycelium on the top of the casing. (click)

I "like" to grow them in 5 l canning bottles with a triangle shaped coffe filter on the top, and they don't need anything, Just mix, and case and let them fruit.

Offtopic, we will be killed    I like them because they don't need the cleanness as cubes and other dungers. So I can throw them anywhere with a bit care and they will grow  And the effects too

I done with it allways, but anything can be good as far as you can keep the humidity high and fan frequently.

If don't want to try CVG, just use plain verm. Or you can make a properly pasteurised 50-50+ casing, there is nothing better than that, but I don't like to spend time on the pasteurisation, that is why I use CVG with the advanced bucket tek. (bucket tek with a lot of cover like clothes or quilts not more than 1,5 h)

I don't wanna be the one who ruined your growth, I'm a bit lucky with mushrooms  So use any casing what is adviced, the key is case, and more FAE and a bit lower RH. Don't wait them after casing, just case and start the fruiting mode.

This looks like the overlay I got from jams. I don't think there is any known way to recover from this. I tried
a few things that didn't work:

1. Scraped off overlay and re-cased. Overlay came back.
2. Cold shocked the tray. This just bruised the overlay and slowed it down for awhile.
3. Re-cased without scraping the overlay. Overlay grew through.

I only got pins where there was no overlay.

Ah bummer. I'll have a go at adding a bit more casing and see what happens. To be honest, I'll consider it a success if I get any pins given the amount of failed pan attempts lately
