When using cow manure for pan-cakes do you keep the 1:1:1:1 ratio as mentioned for horse poo or should you add extra verm to fluff up? If so how much more verm?

Super interested in this strain. Interested in how different they are from cubes mainly the cultivation process. I wonder how likely success is without manure.

In your guys’ boundess knowledge of all things panaeoulus how long would you say it takes for a rye berry bag to start showing mycelium on these puppies? Is it significantly longer that cubes?

Ideally about the same, but with a good spore syringe, it should take less than a week. Some people say wait a month, but fuck that noise, if it's 2 weeks and there's no sign of germination, the spores are likely no longer viable. Or your substrate is too dry, which I doubt.

I've been plugging away and this is the closest I've ever come to success. No contams seen, spawn looks active...starting to overlay a bit...fingers seriously crossed.

Almost ready to spawn some grain of pan bisporus and I have a mixed substrate half gallon that is colonizing from LC My zaps are looking good as well, will put some T1 to LC and do a transfer as back up, then start those experiments

Ok,so, Im getting ready for another attempt. Everything has been going very smoothly so far, with clean agar wedges, wbs to 60% horse manure 40% coir. I also added a small amount of lime/gypsum and spent coffee grounds.
Then i spawned 2 quarts wbs to 5 qts sub into a 32qt mini mono. The mycelium has riped through and im thinking a few more days. So, after rambling i have a specific question.
Is my generic Jiffy Mix suitable for casing? The ingredients are: sphagnum peat, verm, perlite, wetting agent? and lime for ph balance. It doesnt give amounts, but does this sound ok?

I just ordered pan cyan Jamaica print, so excited! I’ll be reading this whole thread but is there a particular grower or TC I should follow for teks? I’ve only done cubes and I’m not sure where to start. When I first started growing I followed some not so great teks 😝 and I want to save myself time and money.
That, and I want in on this thread

Those are beautiful VL. Nice photography too.
I am open to anything. As I said, I grow cubes, prints to agar to oats to mono. (Mostly). Am open to any new ideas. Access to different grains and hpoo, whatever I need, just looking for a tried and true tek

Hey Sunny
I’m in the same situation as you: know my way around cubes and want to experiment with Pans. I have found two ish “TEKs” that I’m eyeballing.
First is MacMerdin’s Pan-Cakes
Second are any of Mary Fairchild’s grow logs.
Finally, BlueHelix is recognized on here as a bit of a Pan god (just look back a few pages in this thread to see some amazing shit!!!). Anything he says probably works.
Good luck!

Well done, you were right.
I'm throwing away all the spawn of this strain and buying a new syringe of pan trop. I suspect this down to genetics as I've been really careful and mould always takes over.
