Even that's debatable

Hope to see pins very soon
Are those doughmate growing trays? I'm going to do my next round pans in them.

No, it’s a mini greenhouse for seedlings - https://www.bunnings.com.au/saxon-mini-green-house-with-seed-tray_p2960182 The clear tall lid with adjustable vents looks good and works well. They fit 3qts of substrate and 1qt of spawn neatly

That looks interesting. You doing the pans with that lid on it or just putting it in a GH?
This is what I was talking about:
https://doughmate.com/product/sd-cpt-7/
These trays are bad ass. Currently growing microgreens in them, but wanted to fruit some pans next time.

Yea those trays are sick. Perfect for pans. Look nice and sturdy too.
I do them with the lid on and open the vents a bit once the casing is on. Really basic setup at the moment. I heat the room they're in and I take the lid off and mist a couple of times a day before pins and then just leave the lid on with the vents slightly open while they develop.
So inspired by Blue Helix's GH though. It's my next project. I always thought automating and controlling temp, FAE and especially humidity so precisely was way out of my capabilities and budget, but it's obviously doable, especially with such detailed instructions.
How's your LC going? I made one recently with grain soak water and it has worked well

Oh cool. I've never used grain water for anything. I made some plates with hpoo tea that did really nice so I may try that again.
The LC I did 3 days ago with LME and dextrose is going strong. This one is going to grow out.
It's just a waiting game now and then I am going to follow what mary is doing when it's all ready.

Had to throw away three LC's and I'm worried about the shoebox...Will know by tonight I think...seem to have a little issue with trich that's only targeting the pan project. Luckily all my other stuff is okay. I must have been slack with my hygiene.
I've just done a gtg with another 5 rye/manure jars and I'll do a couple more tonight to play the numbers game. The master I'm using colonised well and quick on plain rye, compared to the others I did in that last batch.
Onwards and upwards. The more setbacks, the sweeter the rewards will be.

Pan Aussie LC is looking good. Made this on 9/4. It's probably good to go but I am going to keep it on the stir plate for a few more days.
This is using BH's recipe but cut in half. 5g LME, 5g dextrose, 500ml water

Quick snap survey. I have a popcorn jar colonised with very fine pan myc, but it smells a bit bacterial. Do I attempt to use it as spawn and probably waste a shoe box of sub, or not....?

Don't think I'm going to use popcorn again for this strain. Works fine for cubes, but constant issues with pans

If it’s not a lot of work i’d spawn it anyway.
Finally see some pins on my couple of trays. Pics coming soon if they’re worthwhile.
There’s a bit of chat in another thread about manure not being necessary for pans. I’m going to spawn a jar to plain cvg today and see how it goes

I found some worm castings the other day while doing some cleaning and was curious if anyone else has used castings before for pan substrate. I have 4quarts of oats that are colonizing and was planning on using castings with some cvg. Not sure if it would be beneficial or not but I cant get cattle/ horse manure anymore.

Someone a couple months ago had success on straight unpasteurized worm castings

What do you use for your sub, I'm planning on mixing it up with cvg. I mainly just want to get rid of it rather than throw it away. Iv never grown pans before so I'm kinda learning a bit here and there.

I may not be the best person to offer advice as all three of my last three shoe boxes went green. The issue, I'm certain, was spawn though.
I use manure, cvg and a small amount of worm castings from the wormery. The most recent batch I made I pasturised for over an hour just to try and reduce the chances of contaminating (even though I'm told sprawl is the key).
To be clear, this has not worked yet for my pans, but works great for my cubes

Do some pan cakes with the worm castings in it. Then you can us a PC and sterilize.

Wtf is sprawl? Doesnt pasteurizing for too long fuck things up or am i pulling that from thin air?
