Another update. They seemingly are sporulating so I should harvest them anytime soon. Not sure if and how I should rehydrate the substrate. If I soak it, it would probably turn into mud. And if I spray it, the numerous pins might be affected.

If you're going for spores and have some sign of spore drop, harvest right at that time. If you are going to directly consume or dry them I would have harvested before the caps start to flatten out- just like for cubes.
If the surface is starting to look a little dry use a syringe and needle and carefully water the surface especially near the pins, of course trying to avoid getting the pins wet. If you get a few wet its still better than letting the surface dry. The smaller buds seem to survive some wetting better than the bigger ones. I never water the surface till it starts to look dry. You are treading on new ground without a case. The case helps provide a cozy humid micro climate for them. Drying may be more dangerous for the little guys. You really have an explosion of pins. Thinly casing a small section of the smallest budding primordia could be informative, would they be able to poke thru it?

I harvested the majority of the Pan. cyanescens. No exciting yield though, but let's see how it carries on. It's extremely hot these days and the substrate had shrunk quite a bit, so I decided to mist it thoroughly. It absorbed the water like a sponge. Afterwards I gave it sufficient ventilation. Right now some pins seem to be turning into aborts though. Oh well, there are still enough of them left I suppose. Hope some will begin to mature swiftly.
I'm trying to make some prints in a double container. I misted the outer one with water to raise the humidity, giving the caps more time to drop their spores.

Made 6 pancakes with pan bisporus syringe. 4 weeks later and only 1 germinated and is about done colonizing, while none of the others germinated. Any ideas what happened there??

Bisporus mycelia is so thin- wispy, its less obvious than some other Pans, but by 4 weeks you should have seen something so.....
Maybe its a bad syringe- If its a syringe from a vendor its possible you had very low viability ie. most of the spores were too old to germinate but you got lucky with one of them. BTW- fresh Bisporus spores should germinate on ME agar in ~3days. If they were good they should also work when injected into the Pancake. To get some germination let most of the spores settle to the tip of the syringe- then inject on to a ME agar plate, if it takes 12 days to get visible germination then the spore syringe is bad.
