I can only find composted manure in my area, only one brand called premium. Is the fact that it's mixed with compost a bad thing for the pans?
Also, do you guys have a preferred agar media to use? I only have experience with MEA but I've read that Pans grow faster on PDYA.

any classic recipe is fine, as for the compost stuff i use it more like an additive, dry it out first to rid the amonia and then sift it and use the sifted stuff at about 205

What dilution ratio did you use for the Grain water? Ive been wanting to try some to germinate some Pan spores, but ive read people have problems with 50/50 GW and some have trouble with 30/70 GW (grain water/water)

I used like 20/80 and my pans and tamps showed germination in 3 days... but it's my first time with either so that ain't sayin much without anything to compare to.

I don't remember the exact ratio, but it was around 30-40% gw. I used double boiled GW that used coffee and gypsum during the grain prep. I tossed most of the plates right away cause I didn't think it would solidify all the way. I kept four just to see, and they're working great.

That's not a big deal. I never bother with gypsum in my grain anymore.

I started using it because I had read that it keeps the grains from sticking... but I don't ever have that problem without it anyway...now it is just like a habit, I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever when using it during my soak.

So?
I don't soak. I boil my oats with coffee/gyp/wheat bran. I usually prep more oats in the same sitting so I just save the original boil water and boil the second batch with that.
Then, when the pc's running, I let the grain water settle for ~15 minutes and decant slowly so that most of the bigger stuff remains at the bottom as I'm pouring into an ice cube tray. Once frozen into cubes, I throw them in a gallon freezer bag for storage. Grab as I need.

20% grain water?
I was thinking about trying 30% grain water 70% water.

Use 100% grass seed drain water and you'll never look back.
Just my experience.
