This is correct. Unlike Cubensis, copes don't have a veil, so their gills are exposed to open air through out their whole lives.

Spawned some pan cyan (aussie) to a mix of cow poo and cvg today. Threw in some more verm because the cow poo is a bit dense - hope it works though. 1q spawn to 3q bulk ratio gave me a lot to work with. Got it in small trays, big trays, 1/4 pint jars, a little seed germinating mini green house that may turn out to be a good FC and I might use the remaining spawn to make a monotub tonight. Battling the cold in a cavernous house at the moment. Built a makeshift 'room' using insulation around the sides of a desk and a heater on a timer underneath that's working out quite well, but time will tell.

Those look great Just a noob, I hope to replicate your success soon I'm developing a love hate relationship, I've read many times of how aggressive they are on grains, no need to shake, delicate and possibly don't want to shake anyway... Well story of my life nothing's going like that.
I just G2G two great looking PC mietkong Vietnam pints (wbs) into 9 pints (oats) a few days ago and they'll be wrapping up soon.
Usually Im plenty patient amd I prefer to knock up very few master grain jars with agar and G2G those grain masters to 4 or 6 jars each. But given how ridiculously lethargic these are I need to grow like the big boys I guess.
I've created at least 20 different strains from my pan cyan Hawaii syringe and they all suck for speed.
I have a handful of pints on the counter, each one from a different PCH dish from a syringe (pretty sure they're all different strains), half the pints I shook half I didn't.
The half I didn't shake are just now about 60% colonized, they were knocked up 4/1. The other half that I shook just fully colonized yesterday.
I managed to create a PCMV strain that was double the speed of all PCH strains on my agar, so I ditched all other strains of it, and expanded this one out to those nine like I said earlier. They outran pch easily and, not that it matters I don't think, but I noticed the PCMV is thicker and gets aerial than the fine wispy PCH strains. I have high hopes for it, they look healthy and great, but I'm only halfway thru.
Don't give up Mushboy no matter how many times it takes. I should have approached this in a whole different manner I should have scaled up more
Never give up, never surrender, we will fruit these and I will be able to make the most amazingly potent and not grainy chocolates
Nice grows everyone good luck!

Side pin city but the top is filling out. Hoping these babies mature enough for spores!

beautiful @fishermansjc . What species are these?
I'm hoping for some advice, as follows (I'm quoting from my grow log https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/25184078) :
Quote:
hazelnut said: The following images show the tub @ 6.5 days after spawning.
I think it's not at 100% colonization yet because I didn't break up and mix the spawn with the substrate thoroughly. Some of the substrate is kind of loose on top as well.
Therefore, should I put the 50-50 casing layer on yet? Or keep waiting until the top and sides are at 100%?

Thank you!

They are pan cyan var goliath
This is my first pan grow so I am not sure, I waited for 100% colonization before casing though. good luck!

Progress report. The two Aus tubs are doing their thing.
Tub1.

Tub2.

Cakes aren't doing anything, Milo jars are fully colonized, and the buried bags are doing their thing too.

I'm a couple of days behind you ham by the looks of it. Seems to be colonizing super fast. I'll post pics if things continue going well.
What are you going to case it with? I'm thinking 50/50 but have so many trays I might mix it up a bit.
On casing - how come we case pans when the sub is colonized by we case p.mexicana immediately?

It's already been cased for about four days with good ol' 50/50+. Didn't have to plus the casing, but I did, because there are other substrates that needed casing that will take longer to pin.
My understanding is to case p. Mexicana immediately once full colonization is accomplished if going for fruits. With Copelandia, it's my understanding that they benefit from a consolidation period.

I'm fearful that I am not maintaining a high enough RH in my greenhouse for these guys (pan cyan goliath). they are growing slow and some splitting of caps.
If they are developing in too low of RH, will they not develop spores? I am hoping to take prints for a giveaway and tryign to decide when to harvest the first flush. They are still pretty small and I have yet to notice spores dropping on the stems.
I'll drop a picture later tonight.
