The "use your brain" TEK works fantastic.

Don't take this as an offense. I just want to remind you to do things your own way, don't hesitate. You can try and fail numerous times, whatever. It's a wild print anyway so you better make more than 1 plate.

Tek?? There is no reason for a tek. Take a sterile swab or inoculation loop and swipe spores across an agar plate. If you have not started working with agar, well you need to if you really want to be able to grow a lot of varieties of shrooms with any good level of success. Without agar every grow is a big gamble.

I know how to make a spore print, but how do you guys get the syringes made up? Do you just scrape off the spores into some water and suck it up with the syringe? Is there a tek for it?

For me it goes in the opposite direction. I aim to get a clean print and get the culture going to set it outdoors.

Syringes are notoriously dirty, spores to agar is the safest way. There's a lot of great information at this link:

You don't need a 'tek' you need to absorb as much cultivation info as possible. Read the first link in my sig, and skim the next one. The knowledge is there, we aren't going to do your research for you

what you gotta understand is that there's a lot of false and out dated info out there as well tho

that's why i'm asking questions that you guys see a 100 times a month, I watched a full 1 hour youtube vid of growing that turned out to be half wrong after doing more research

I even tend to ignore anything past 2. Typically if it's good info it gets reposted with conviction

alright I've been doing a lot of studying since I last posted

since the goal is to be able to grow these beauties I reckon I should ask a few beginner questions:

what have you ( any of you ) found more difficult about growing these as compared to cubes?

i'm assuming you used a pressure cooker for the original post? Will these grow on BRF at all?

Edit: I'm learning how to use this search engine better now. Apparently they'll colonize, but they WON'T fruit without manure is that correct?

They are a bit more finicky than cubes.  Unlike cubes, they also benefit from a casing layer.  They will grow on BRF/PF Tek, but instead of the standard average 2:1:1 verm/flour/water recipe, substitute 1 part manure for verm like this, 1:1:1:1 verm/manure/flour/water.  For fruiting, leave cakes in jars, top case, then bury jars in moistened perlite up to brim.  With PF Tek a pressure cooker will not be required.

As far as manure vs coir question, user 'Germs' has recently proven prolific flushes can be accomplished using coir without addition of manure, but it's hard to say how much of that was luck simply without more cultivation attempts using coir without addition of manure.

Alright so just use a normal pf tek with slightly different ingredients and make my bulk substrate with coir?

Is bods bucket https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24077162#24077162 fine for this?

edit: "For fruiting, leave cakes in jars, top case, then bury jars in moistened perlite up to brim."

I actually don't understand this sentence very well at all. You want me to bury jars with the cakes still in them in perlite?

That's a lot of coir.  You first need to decide if you're doing a bulk grow or a pf style grow. If doing bulk that should work. If not you'll want a lot less than that

Then omit the coir for now. Get some manure and do as ham suggested
