Looks like they’re well on their way. They really liked that sub blend...I’d like to see a side by side with and without the fert. Shoot, now the pressure is really on for my bi clone project.

Your bis clone grow will blow us all away.
BTW, I doubt the fertilizer had any impact but who knows. I just remembered a time after my lawn was fertilized and then it rained- there would be all these little mushrooms sprouting. They were just growing on fertilized dirt.

pacmanbreed said: Informative thread. Im currently working on wild spore copelandia direct gill swab. Unfortunately my cloning plates went to south being sloppy and since copelandia has thin stems.

They resemble oyster growth on agar. This is 3rd transfers from spores swipe where yeast is present on the swiped plates.

Will post 4th xfer soon. I can see 2 kinds of growth on my 4th xfer plates. One thick and cottony radial. And others are flat thin radial growth. Planning to test this on few grains.
Hope you dont mind my 3 questions sister. I find your threads informative regarding this. -I did open some of the xfered plates. Does copelandia have a sweet almondy smell to it?
-can copelandia plate survive the fridge for 3 months? Im getting overwhelmd on agar work load asm Working on 4 cultures eg. gano which cant survive cold storage.
-And when it comes to subs and casing is it really required for aged manure to be present?
Hoping to get my few spore prints to save so i can concentrate on this culture if time permits.
Hi Pacman sorry I missed your question, I'm also playing with a wild Pan as well as a cultivated one that I got from some nice people.
First Q. Regarding long term storage- The short answer is- I don't know -the long answer is: I just did a grow from a ~9 month old Pan cy Jam. plate, of course it was stored in fridge- yield wasn't great but ok:
I don't like to store my Pan plates for any time in the fridge- but that may be superstition.
Working on too many plates at once? Right now I have 24 plates going- thats quite a bit more than usual for me but I do most of my grows in the winter anyway. I don't know how many you have going but I rarely have more than this. If you are really swamped with other commitments then i'd just do one or two species/ varieties at once.
Is manure necessary to grow Pans- The is just my opinion- I think its been shown over the years that Pans would rather grow on a sub that has herbivore poo in it than without it. Alternative poo sources: worm castings may also be an alternative, chicken manure? - i'd love to see someone try these (someone may already have, and I may have missed it). These two sources are way richer than herbivore sources. If I had time, id try these myself. Pans CAN work on coir without poo if you get the right genetics- I think i've seen some of those grows- but you are more likely to be successful with poo. I prefer horse over cow because its less dense- more airy.
BTW- your wild shrooms look a lot like the little shrooms that grew on my lawn when I lived in the northeast- USA. I'm no shroom identifier so I never took them.

Thank you very much sister for the answers. im doin 20+ plates at d moment per culture specially for the wild pan for my temp range since im selecting the best pan growth.
Im gonna test few plate on grains tommorow. And save the spare on the fridge for future slants & dh2o like Wild ganoderma.
those fruits are so lovely. Shit im gonna source some azomite its what i lack in the storage. Gratitude for sharing recipe sister and to mycolorado for informative threads. 5 shrooms for ya.
I think they can grow on well aged chicken manure too. Just dug this hours ago.
They love cow field's rich slightly sandy soil since i also found others fruiting on some sand with a aged leeched cow poo in the perimiter. But most of them love the humidity provided by the grass.

How do you guys go about storing pan cultures long term? I've had a few die on me in the fridge only after a few months...nice clones too.

Pan bisporus grow Day 6 after fruiting started:

First pic- See the cracks on the caps- I bet its too dry (maybe someone else has an idea)- anyway I don’t think my wicking humidifier is providing sufficient humidity to these guys. I thought bisporus might be able to get by with lower humidity but now I think thats not the case- at least with my wicking humidifier.
I’m going to use my ultrasonic humidifier to bring the humidity to ~95%-97% of the dew point and see what happens. Also i'll maintain a relatively high air flow. I was hoping I could get by without the ultrasonic because it requires distilled H2O.

I think your right about the humidity being to low causing the cracking. Pans. Seem to like 90%+ humidity imo. I guess age could do it too but I'd put my money on humidity.

Hi Doc, Good to hear from you- It definitely is the humidity- they look WAY better today. I must be lazy because its always been so much easier to not use the ultrasonic. After only like 12 hours at 95-97% humidity its as if the cracks healed themselves!
