firstTIMER420 said: like i said, i started a couple jars using an MS syringe since i cannot get any spores to germinate on agar, Im thinking they are producing metabolites because the rye berries are too wet.

Its almost 100% colonized, could be producing metabs beause ive waited too long to spawn, but tbh, it doesn't look colonized enough too.
Those jars look so bad... If you can try to snag a grain from the top of grain jars #2 & #4, and place it on some agar.. (Make a couple)
Its pics of the same jar, they ALWAYS look fine, no metabs, grains look fine, UNTIL I SHAKE. Every time lately after I shake, it gets nasty and bacterial. This is an inoculation str8 from the syringe. And I know it looks bad dude, that's why I posted the pic..... Im thinking its maybe from the grains being too wet. Either way, the first round of G2A didn't do anything, they are just sitting there and getting surrounded by bacteria from the grains. Im going to pick another jar and try and get a grain that actually has myc coming off it, not one that is just colonized and has white on it, one I can actually see the hairs of the myc on it.
Someone is sending me a print of a good strain of pan cyan, recent too. I cant wait till it gets here, im so tired of not being able to get a pan cyan strain going!

this used to happen to me when I shook too...maybe you had hidden contams from the MS that were spread by shaking

I have Azurescens, Galindoi, Pan Cyan and Pan Cambo all on rye berries from spores at the same time. The Cyan and Cambo are the 2 slowest jars of the 4. First time with both Pans, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Other than speed they look great.
I've read a lot that they need higher temps but I've also read a lot that says room temp is ok as well. They're above the fridge @ 72 degrees currently. Sorry no pics yet.

I got a question for you fox. Is it better to use pint jars for the pianoless genus? Can you use quart jars? Or will this be too prone to contams?

Sounds normal to me. Galindoi is fast AF and I have no experience with Azures. I just know pans are slow AF on grains..

are you guys sure its healthy?
my panaeolus grow faster than cubes at decent temps, but if temps are lowered pans can really halt on you!

Weird. Yeah I know mine are healthy. They're slower than cubes on grain and then fuckin colonize my manure trays in less than 2 days.
All of these were dropped into jars 15 days ago:Quote:
Mad Season said: Quick update time! Lots of stuff is almost done! Cubes/pans will be getting a shake soon tho..
Shiitake:
Reishi:
Mexicana:
Cubensis (Albino A+ and peu):
Pan cyan:
I love growing different species and comparing them. I can't get over the aggressiveness of the edibles and mexicana.. Now I can see why people say we should be recommending mexicana to newbies lol

Looks thin/weaker than normal cubensis mycelium, but all similar to the next and very healthy looking. All jars recovered after shaking, just not ripping through like I expected. Was wondering if I needed to incubate or something.

eatyualive said: well mr. fox, keen eye. tossed those tubs i spawned of the cyans. going to start again. have a bunch on agar ready for a transfer. going to LI without the cornmeal this time. but i don't think the cornmeal was the cause. i think the grain was overcoked. i did a bad batch and lost track of it in the mix. seemed to be only that batch of 10 i did.

im going to do the old g2g. remember that one? lol..
Aw man! :/
Atleast you've got a back-up! I dont think it was the cornmeal either..
Dont have experience with over cooked grains so I can't speak on tht note.
I love G2G!! It's all I do tbh, Unless its A2G, or inoculate I made from agitating a 100% colonized jar. I dont trust myself with the slurry/liquid inoculate thing yet, and haven't really had the time to try it out..
Yeah i tend to do too many things at once. But ive got my method down now.
