IDK, but my culture was weak AF on grain so I ditched the project.
Second flush Pan bi starting. I've got rh up and temps around 75-77F, so shit is doing much better. I'll grab a better pic later:

Just put Pan cyan goliath and jamacia to agar today so figured I'd watch along.
I have T3 Pan tropicalis and Pan cinctulus on agar also, might get them to grain and try to fruit in the near future.

Panaeolus cyanescens grow I’ve been mostly working with Pan cy Jams for the last 3 years working out their quirks- right now im in the middle of this winters grow.
I’ve had best luck with a simple protocol:
Print to agar to select for uniform growth- This is 3 passages away from the germination plate:

Agar wedges to grain jars- 17days at ~75F
Spawn to bulk (1:4 v/v ratio) in trays. 12 days at ~76F (reached 100% colonization by day 6 STB).
Case with 50/50+ to GH fruiting conditions- 80-83F, saturating humidity, moderate air flow.
Pinning by day 5 fruiting conditions:

Day 7- they mature fast:

A pic of a couple of the bigger ones: and first flush harvested- aside from those i'm saving for prints:
I'm getting a surprisingly nice 2nd flush right now:
I've learned some things from this grow that I'll apply to my next grow but thats another subject, regardless these guys will keep me busy for awhile. Best wishes to all the Pan growers on this thread!

Damn...that's a strong culture...do jams typically produce such strong mycelium? Beautiful grow there, mf!

What was your choice for substrate?

These guys I've been working with produce a very aggressive fast mycelia thats why they're prone to overlay so much. You don't need to do a 1:2 spawn rate. A 1:4 ratio gave less overlay but still too much.

Same substrate I always use: 70% dehydrated horse manure, 20%coir, 10% verm. And importantly 61- 62% H2O content by weight.

Key point here...and the saturating humidity is a must as well. Thanks for the info mf!

I wish I had such a nice looking culture. My agar cultures always look like they just walked out of a warzone. Do you use manure agar? What recipe is it?

Its standard malt extract agar that is brought up in horse manure tea instead of plain water. Been doing it this way for a couple years now. Recently some posters on this thread have alluded to problems germinating Pan spores on plain ME agar, this recipe works well for me.

I put 1 liter of dry horse poo in an old pillowcase ->boil 2L of H2O, then turn heat off-> add the pillowcase of poo to the boiled water and let it steep & cool till I can handle it without getting scalded- then just squeeze the tea out. Store in freezer till ready to make plates.
