These fucking cultures were like 18th transfer deep from MS. Who the fuck knows what will happen. But I am thinking getting some cow/horse poo, putting half full in QT jars and PC'n, hydrated of course to ~field capacity. Then G2P them and shake together. Then spawn to some trays or some shoeboxes or something. What you guys think?
poo has a texture that makes that sound like a bitch. Also. There's less room for error to just pasteurize the poo and spawn As normal

I have pasteurized straw for oysters, but that was only 2 times and I am 1:1 for that working out, LOL. I was hopping maybe I could even cut the poo with something, maybe some perlite and verm. I am just trying to make sure the culture has what it wants.

Germs grew trops on straight coir I believe, but a blend of poo coir verm sounds like a good mix.

Fuck perlite. Save that shit for a sgfc. Verm and shit go hand in hand. I used to think that poo was the base of the sub but after finding a decent ratio it's a verm based sub with a poo addative. Even 2/3rds verm is too muddy

This was straight up coir verm. Pan cyan as well
I really want to revisit panaeolus but I accidentally gave out all my spores... may have to source some more. Tryna see some canopies as well

I've had moderate success with stonesun's method. Never a good yield, though. I have some plates going now and I want to try with shoeboxes in a mono - which I guess would be similar to Mac's.

I am really wanting to try to get some big enough to print. I ran Pan cambo on straight coir, got just a few fruits and then trich.

Did you get any second flushes, Germs? If so, did you recase?

Negative, they were disposed of after the first flush. Didn’t expect to get much more, probably wasn’t the case

I've been playing around with Panaeolus bisporus, and I've been meaning to post some results, but I've been busy.
A few weeks ago I saw my first pins:

Mycelium is quite wispy. I grew out from multispore agar, inoculated rye grain, then added sterilized H2O and shook. Used this resulting fluid as liquid inoculant. Substrate is staw+hpoo+gyp, a bit on the wet side.

Several flushes later now, I'm seeing so far the fruits are quite small, with distinct dark colors and a light, farinaceous smell, much more subtle than Ps cubensis or even Ps mexicana.

Here (below) you can see the stubby, stunted fruits with flat stems. I'm hoping this is just my overly wet substrate, or perhaps a particular phenotype.

Here's just a few fruits that made up a flush. IIRC this dried to about 0.25 g

Fruiting chamber is an unmodded 100L Sterilite with the lid flipped and offset slightly.
Cloned my first few but the fruits are so small that I've been having some trouble isolating from bacteria. I got several dark prints, so I might start over and see where things go with a larger tub of these.
I'm looking forward to trying more things with these guys, they seem much more robust than other Panaeolus I've played around with. I want to see how they behave with grain+coir and 50/50 casing.

Sweet, straightedge! Look identical to my pan bi. Very pretty! I haven’t been able to grab a clean clone from them either. What was the sub?

Right on, eat! I might just give a spray and re-case as the current casing in getting pretty well colonized.

Thanks!
My clones are still fighting the battle before I attempt another transfer. The mycelium is a fast colonizer.
The sub is a little straw + hpoo, plus some gypsum, was inoculated with LI from shaken grain. Casing is 50/50 peat/fine verm + gypsum. Sub was on the wet side.

I really want to get some Hawaiian cyans going. I have really only had success with cambos. All the cyans were like 1-2 cms tall. Doubt genetics as I tried 1 vendor Hawaiian and 1 wild picked to agar. The wild picked was the biggest pan I have ever seen. Im thinking of trying straight cased grain? Any suggestions? I was always using 2 inch thick 50/50 rye berry spawn/ horse manure with gypsum. Casing with 1/4" of coir/peat/lime.

Just straight poo? Sounds like a bitch to colonize. Needs verm or straw to fluff it up. I can see that diminishing returns
