Is that the early bird? Looks very nice!
My pan cyan spore solution eitehr has a very low spore count or it has a hard time germinating. Last year I had only one germination spot out of 16 on strong agar recipes, brf, and dog food. I inoculated 3 WBS jars 17 days ago with 0.5ml spore solution each and no sign of germination yet. I also inoculated 4 brf/coir pucks a few days ago and I´m really hoping I get some germination soon. Pan Cyan Goliath from eu vendor.

Thanks! Nah, it’s like # 5 or so but is the only one to fully develop and was by far the fastest to mature and nicest looking.

Couldn’t say as a buddy gave me the germ plate. Hopefully this print will take and I can germ some up. Check lipa’s tip on hot pouring in this thread if you haven’t already:

lipa said: What species is it. There are all kinds of methods for germinating spores of different fungi.
If you go the gill on minimal agar (which work great) route I would recommend pushing the gill fragment down into the agar so that there is plenty of contact with the agar for hydration. Or melt a lot of the agar with your loop or scalpel to wet the area really well before placing the gill fragment on top so the fragment gets well coated with agar.
Some other methods I have used for germinating spores of different species....
For Panaeolus, Cubensis, Coprinus, Ganoderma and some Agaricus (probably more) you can simply pour hot (120-140F) agar over it in a petri dish to germinate spores. You can also just take light/quick spore prints on empty dishes and pour a light layer of hot agar over the top. Also just make up small test tubes of hot agar and put the spores inside, shake and drip on top of a few agar plates.
For dirty gill tissue, spores and clones you can sterilize newspaper and wrap the tissue or spores inside and place on top of the agar. This way they germinate and work their way out on top of the agar before contaminates do. Use antibiotic agar for this to get the best results and seal the edge of the petri dish with a few layers of parafilm to prevent moisture loss.
Drop the gill tissue into sterile distilled water, agitate, allow to soak for a few hours and streak into many plates.
Sterilize thick pieces of cardboard and place in sterile petri dish. Hydrate the spores and place on top of the cardboard to germinate. I like to add a little malt/yeast mixture to the cardboard soak water.
Agaricus spores like to germinate on grain or compost more often than agar. Use a ton of spores if you can.

Excellent, thanks colorado!
I wish it said more about spore solution hehe but hell of a post anyway, much useful information.

Well, it's not much but that cap did drop a few spores:

The whole thing looks pretty sad but is still kicking up new pins. The gnarly white one on the right looks like it might continue to open and possibly print as well:

Panaeolus cinctulus forming "barriers" within its own mycelium. Any idea what that is?

These are coming along nicely. Before recasing, I soaked the existing casing with the spray bottle. The new casing is a 1:1:.5 jiffy:verm:sand, so more of a typical blend. The gh was a tad too dry for them so I popped them in a tub as well. They’re definitely maintaining that wet, gooey look and appear to be doing a lot better.

In the original grain jar they were bigger. But unfortunately not so that they could be harvested. Would love to give them a try. It would be a miracle if I could even fruit this thing anyway.

Gonna grab some prints off a couple of these today. It’s only a couple fruit but I’m pretty happy with the results thus far.

Here we go. Pan Cambo germination plates swabbed 6 days ago. Would have liked to have transferred wedges today but didn't have agar bottles premade in the fridge like I thought.

Prints were from this grow last winter. Ready to get back to Pan-land!
