Right I was talking about just adding some castings to the bulk substrate. If I added gypsum to my bulk substrate how much would I add to say a 50/50 mix of horse manure and vermiculite? I guess that really can't be answered without knowing how much of each I'm using. Lol, space case moment! Let's say its a pint size jar of horse manure and vermiculite, would a 1/4 cup of gypsum be to much? Really want to get bigger pans, going to layoff the casing layer next round but wondering what else I can do.

well mr. fox, keen eye. tossed those tubs i spawned of the cyans. going to start again. have a bunch on agar ready for a transfer. going to LI without the cornmeal this time. but i don't think the cornmeal was the cause. i think the grain was overcoked. i did a bad batch and lost track of it in the mix. seemed to be only that batch of 10 i did.

im going to do the old g2g. remember that one? lol..

like i said, i started a couple jars using an MS syringe since i cannot get any spores to germinate on agar, Im thinking they are producing metabolites because the rye berries are too wet.

Its almost 100% colonized, could be producing metabs beause ive waited too long to spawn, but tbh, it doesn't look colonized enough too.

Im gonna be straight with you... If you want bigger pans get into bigger bulk projects.. Like shoe box trays, or mini- monos. You aren't going to get huge fruits from a small scale grow with this spp. Also, look into incorporating straw, and manure together. I suggest you powder your straw in a blender; you'll be able to get more into your sub that way, and it'll colonize a hellaTON faster.
To answer your question 1/4cup would be too much gypsum I'd use half that.
If you got ?'s about bulk sub ratios or w/e shoot me a

Aw man! :/
Atleast you've got a back-up! I dont think it was the cornmeal either..
Dont have experience with over cooked grains so I can't speak on tht note.
I love G2G!! It's all I do tbh, Unless its A2G, or inoculate I made from agitating a 100% colonized jar. I dont trust myself with the slurry/liquid inoculate thing yet, and haven't really had the time to try it out..

Those jars look so bad... If you can try to snag a grain from the top of grain jars #2 & #4, and place it on some agar.. (Make a couple)

Copelandia cyanescens "Jamaica" (3rd flush)
This flush looks alil denser than the 2nd. Also noticed how the sub has shrunken tremendously yet the copes refuse to side/bottom pin! Unlike cubensis which side pins like crazy given the right circumstances..(microclimate between wall and sub) Just goes to show that they not only need humidity but contant airflow. Cool shit! Wondering how long its gonna go until trich sets in. Hah,

Another side note, cyanescens Jamaicas caps never go fully flat at maturity... They stay convex. It's sorta tricky to tell when they are at their prime. Esp. if your dealing with "sterile" fruit bodies with no spore deposits. You must look at the gills from the side of the cap. It's mature when you see the gills protruding like little claws/teeth from the cap like sooo VvvV
(old pic for example)
I'm not sure if all cyanescens varieties are like that, it's just something I've noticed with the Jamaicans. Cambodginesis always gave me flat caps at maturity..

I saw some people using gentamicin in their agar recipes, would it help to prevent future bacteria contams?

It helps clean cultures covered in bacteria, but itll never be a replacement to sterile techniques.
