I say check it with a nickel as those should be 4.9-5.1g. Then you can get more accurate as 500ml would uses the equivalent of 2 nickels' weight.

Any US bill should be 1g if that helps

Yea I shook my multi spores an they didn't bounce back, but just curious wat people think about shaking agar? If it's clean will it cover the whole thing or is there still a chance it could unevenly colonize Idc about the speed just don't want it to be uncolonized

My LC has been swirled daily. Stir plate and bar is what a proper setup would use for faster growth.  You're not really worried about reconnections at this stage.

Nm, I thought your ldc was about shaking agar and lc lol.

I haven't shaken my poo-blend jars as it's fairly firm. Although I did xfer some top growth to agar to clean up and expand to LC

Well I usually make up 500ml at a time and use between 8 and 10g LME depending on how I am feeling. If I know I have contamination I will go light to encourage it to grow across the plate faster hunting food. Stronger mixes will grow slower. When I first started agar I got a pre mix and had to use 25g per 500ml, so that would have had to been 15g LME and 10g agar. I found stuff grew slow as it didn't have to hunt for nutrition. So I started mixing my own, cut back the nutrition and stuff grew quicker.

That's pretty informative, I never knew nutrition level could have an impact on myc spreading out. Is it possible to manage this effect with a premade mix? My premade mix is supposed to be used at a 1:20 ratio with water. If I do 1:25 or 1:30 would that work to reduce nutrition or would it just fuck up my agar mix since I would be reducing both agar and nutrition instead of just nutrition?

Does this oat jar look fucked to you guys? I have 7 jars that are two weeks old with fairly decent growth but there seems to be patches of green/blue/grayish in there that are really worrying me. The discoloration only started to show up in the last few days

On the bright side, the Macmerdin Style pan-cakes that I inoculated last week seem to be aggressively colonizing:

Nice containers you have there. What type/brand are they if you don't mind my asking? They seem a bit bigger than the ziplocs that MacMerdin put in his writeup.

Also what yield do you typically get from pan-cakes?

They are 9 oz. I couldn’t find the 8 oz ones so I just made a tiny bit more following the tek. I believe they are glad. I got them from Walmart. You can expect to avg 2g dry from each of u follow the tek perfectly

Also universe... what pans are you growing in that jar with the discoloration? Could it be psuedosclerotia?

Thanks for the info. Those are Pan Cyans. It came from a wild print that I printed myself. Do Pans Cyans typically do that?

Yes pan cyans can form a psuedo stone like growth it is not typical but it happens. Shaking pans is still one of those mixed results type thing lots have no issues
