Good morning guys...
I am currently struggling to get my pan cyans to fruit. I use to have a lot of success with coco coir. But since the store i use to buy it from only sell palm peat now instead of coco coir i cant seem to get them to grow anymore. My agar plates are clean, the grain jars are clean with just white mycelium and no bad smells.

I mix in 2 parts horse manure, 1 part palm peat and 1 part vermiculite for the substrate. Pasteurize it at about 150 degrees fahrenheit for 3 hours. Let it cool down completely. Then i mix in the spawn. Ratio is 2 parts sub to 1 part spawn. I let it colonize for about 6-8 days. I then check if it is fully colonized. It usually look like white fluffy clouds covering the top and is usually completely covered. I then mix a little bit of coco coir with vermiculite And cook the shit out of it (sterilizing it) and after cooling down sprinkle just a fine layer on top to case. Oh yeah... My substrate and casing i make sure is at field capacity... I squeeze till only 1 or 2 drops are dripping out.
I then let the cased sub closed for 2 days to recover and then put it into fruiting. I fan with a small fan not pointed directly at the tubs and mist about 3 times a day or when i see the walls of the tubs are dry. But every time about 4 days to a week into fruiting then trich shows up and i only get a few shitty shrooms.

Like i said i use to have a lot of success with coco coir... It just that i can't get any more... Only palm peat... I also cant get peat moss for casing but the coco coir and vermiculite mix use to work very well.
Please help me get these to fruit again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Here are some of the agar plates

These are looking pretty rough to me. Maybe find a section from plate 3 to run through a cabin or start from spore again. I wouldn't feel confident putting any of these to grain.

Hey buddy 😎 what do you think, if I clone those monsters, will them repeat that mega size😳 first I thought maybe some wild species growing along

Not necessarily.

I've gotten a few giant fruits off some cultures, and then good coverage and regular fruits with the same culture cloned.

It's really coverage vs fruit size ime.

I am trying something that I haven't seen anyone else do but I am curious if anyone has tried this method. So this is my first Pan Cyan attempt, and also first grow where I did everything myself starting from making my own agar, so I am experimenting with different methods. I am attempting to grow Pans in monotubs and shoeboxes, and one of my experiments is using a humidifier to mist the substrate. The reason for that is to hopefully stop pins from aborting when misted directly. Essentially, this is combining the Martha tent and monotub methods, minus the fan.

My setup looks like below, and it looks like shit because I used what I already had around the house. A better way to do this would be to buy a reptile fogger that is controlled by a remote humidifier, and pipe the fogger into the bottom of the tub. Right now, there is a hole in the bottom of the tub and the humidifier is right below it. The substrate is looking pretty sparse but I wasn't expecting much from this first go anyway, because the spawn was T0 from the LC syringe - after making a few transfers from that plate, the plate looked clean so I decided to spawn it.

I do like that the humidifier I am using can be controlled by an app on my phone, so if I am at work I can turn the humidifier on full blast for 5 minutes which fills the tub right away. It also has a humidity sensor integral to the unit so I can play with the settings and get it to turn on for 5 minutes every 10 minutes, just as an example. Not sure yet what the optimal cycle would be, but I may buy a humidity sensor and place it in the tub to figure out what settings are needed to maintain 90-95% at all times. And the trash bag is there because of the integral humidity sensor which controls the auto mode, so it needs to trap some moisture or the unit would run non stop until its dry.

For pans, the only thing you need, plastic box with holes all around including lid and water heater
them need a mass of warm, humid air mowing upward and, what I did understood, main reason of abnormal shape and aborting is direct air blow on fruits.

Interesting, I have not seen that method but I'll surely give it a try. Thanks for sharing that.

Can someone point me in the right direction to how much calcium carbonate is needed for a peat or peat/verm casing?

I’m still unfamiliar with all the variants used for ph balance and supplemental calcium.

I personally use calcium hydroxide but from what I've seen you would use 1 cup calcium carbonate to 10 cups peat

I use 2:1 peat:calcium carb by dry weight.

Some less than happy bispo (the fruits on cased dung develop slowly, but the seedling starter mix barrier that's supposed to keep them away from the ingeli, seems to be a popular spot)

Harvested some happier clusters

I think drywall is mostly gypsum.  Garden stores sometimes have calcium carbonate for like $10 for 50 lb though.

Hey, I've got 6 trays of Peace River going, it's been exactly one week since spawining and I was a litte surprised by what I saw (see pictures). I was disappointed to see 2 trays not fully colonised (I don't think that's necessarily an issue), but one of the trays in particular looks a little worrying to me, and none of them are as dense and cloudlike as I was expecting based on my previous grows. I'm still fairly inexperienced though so I thought I'd post on here and see what some of you have to say. I'm gonna wait another 3 days before casing. The trays are sat inside my martha setup at a fairly stable temp of 26-27 C (79-80F).
