They're growing nice and dence. I can see condensation on the side of your tub so you've got humidity. Light maybe. Mine are near a window but out of direct sun. I'm certainly no expert, I just go with basic needs. I open a couple of times a day but I don't fan. They look awesome but if they're not opening change something. Good luck man.

Maybe sterilize some Q tips and take some swabs? Might be easier.

Germs, nice results for a manure-less substrate. the fact that they weren't lacking in potency would seem to confirm the notion that potency is based on genetics and not substrate ingredients.
Xclozure, i haven't seen any indication that any pan species is more likely to produce than any other. it's all a matter of dialing in your parameters correctly.

Here are some pics of my pan cyans jars. I've got 6 popcorn jars that were inoculated on 14th October (13 days ago) and 7 oat jars inoculated on 21st October (5 days ago)
Popcorn jars (13 days):

Oat Jars (5 days):

The oat jars seem to be performing better over a shorter duration. Any feedback on these jars is much appreciated. I'm planning on tossing only the first popcorn jar so far.
Cheers.

looks like your on the right track. sucks that the popcorn is taking so long but at least it is colonizing nonetheless. and the growth in all those other jars looks clean. continued success with the rest of your project.

I would lower my temps to 70 and just keep transfering til you know its clean also shake the jar wen u put in ur wedges. multiple small wedges r better than two big ones. just from wat ive learned in the past month . Also small jars maybe something like 500ml instead of quarts so they colonize quick

curious what you guys would say. I was thinking about doing macmerdin's pan cakes but I want to inoculate with agar. the question is, so we're clear , is how could I go about making a pan cake with agar?

i forget how Macmerdin goes about it and it's a little late to refresh my memory but i don't think it would be any different than how you would inoculate grains.

ok, yeah. i guess you could make an LC and inject it in. or skip the verm layer and use a lid with a filter setup.

An agar wedge to brf would colonize painfully slow, but if you're going to do that, go with, the grain jar lid setup with no verm barrier. One of the major keys to Macmadrins success was the 85-90F temp range for fruiting. Pans like it warm.

Thanks, Panarchist. I'm not too optimistic about that corn but the oats seem to be more than making up for it!
Still trying to decide what setup to use for fruiting. Was originally thinking about using trays in a SGFC but now thinking if I should go with shoeboxes or mini monos. Will have to do a lot more research if I go with anything other than a SGFC or standard monotub.

Thanks. About the shake, from what I've read on these forums it seems to be controversial whether it is useful for Pan Cyans or not. I was planning on waiting till I have a bit more growth to the size of an orange inside those oat jars and then trying out a shake on one or two jars to see its effect.

I was actually considering doing the exact same thing this weekend. Take a look at PinPornProducer's response in this thread: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23828115#23828115
Quote:
PinPornProducer said: If I was to go agar to brf I would take a syringe full of sterile water and squirt the water into the agar plate to dislodge the myc and then suck it back up into the syringe. Then inoculate the brf jars normally
Here's also another similar response from a TC: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21539244#21539244
Quote:
Stropharis said: I would make a sterile syringe and then once it is cooled to room temperature I would make the water "mycelium laden" by scratching the surface of your culture with the tip of the sterilized needle and then running water across it while held at an angle, then sucking this water back up from the edge of your dish. Knock a BRF jar up with that and it will colonize very quickly.

Now that I see them again I would say fill your jars up a lil more you want em at least around 3/4 full
