yeah, i agree with Shroomway. in that close-up picture it does look like mycelium. it's so infected though it's not growing much and you can see the outline of a bacterial infection that surrounds the mycelial colonies.

That is weird. Second pan cam syringe from a *trusted vendor* that is contaminated. Their cubes are great though!I need a new vendor. Suggestions?

Btw, each and every one of you are incredible. Thank you for your responses, thank you for the information. I used to know this Micronesian guy who told me that graveyards are the wealthiest places in the world because of how rich they were in the amount of knowledge buried there. I’m glad this information is being spread

be aware, we're not supposed discuss using vendor syringes for cultivation in the open forum areas. they are sold purely for 'microscopy purposes'. if you want, PM me and i'll give you my recommendation.

Are you sure that's not just mycelium? All my cultures have this type of growth, and it always appears on new plates as well no atter where I make the transfer from
Worst case scenario, all my cultures are infected with the same bacteria and I would have to start from the beginning. hmm

Mateah, in my experience, anytime i've seen thin, faint growth on the leading edge like that it was because it was infected. sometimes infected mycelium can still propagate at a decent rate but eventually the infection will win out.

Just for some comparison, this is a Pan Cyan(?) culture after several transfers

I wonder what TC's say about this. I know it's hard to positively identify Pan Cyan but at least what do the outer edges suggest?

I have a PE culture 10 transfers in that I’ve also hot poured that looks exactly like that. Pan cyan looks different IME. I have a few plates I’ll take a pic in a sec

Mateah, that looks like mine, only larger and more grown out. Pm me who you got your spores through, I wonder if it’s the same. Have you ever fruited it after it looked like that? Also, did you ever notice it looking like a 4 leaf clover when it was as small as mine? That’s something I thought was interesting. It had a + sign perfectly in it on a few colonies

Other plates had some condensation so I’ll get some better ones but pan cyan looks pretty similar to cube myc after a few transfers just a little less uniform

But in this case you can see that this growth was caused by the liquid squirted onto the agar. Looks like it pooled then spread around a bit.
Devil I would try shooting less spore solution on your agar or putting solution on sterile swab then swiping to agar.
If thats pan mycelia or not is another thing. I would wait and see.

Lol trust me, I was going for one drop. The SAB is old though and Isn’t as transparent as it used to be... that with gloves and a stubborn syringe means squirt squirt. So I swirled it lightly around and hoped for the best. I’ve done agar work before with cubes. This is just weird how thick it is IMO. Also, in my jars it’s thick and white like that where I squirted it in but is starting to get whispy like it’s supposed to I believe.

10 transfers in on mine.
The leading edge in those pics looks like it has something else besides myc riding along with it but if a TC says it’s good i’d make another transfer to be sure

Well I had thought I had a clean culture after 5 or 6, and I as wrong. Good thing I slanted the 5th transfer so I had a "checkpoint" to go back to.
