My pan cambo loved malt agar. I did the 2g agar 2g malt extract per 100ml Shit was aggressive as fuck on it. Hell I even got pins once I cased it.
This is all pan cambo on malt extract. Look how it climbed up the glass.

I just received a pan cyan syringe today and am anxious to start experimenting. I plan to do 3 small tubs, one plain coir/verm, one with hay, and one with hpoo.
Has anyone tried wax paper/bubble wrap with these? Would this be placed on top of a regular casing, or would a casing not be needed if using the wax paper?
I'm a noob and havent used the wax paper technique yet to help establish a pinset. It seems the pan fruits are smaller and not as numerous as cubes so I wasn't sure if the shrooms would be able to lift or push up the paper due to the small fruits/canopies.

never hurts to experiment but be aware that substrates which don't include manure don't do as well as those that do. and the wax paper/ bubble wrap tek is generally recommended to be avoided.

I'm still learning the look of pans also... does seem off though for what little that's worth. Not sure about your "yeast" pics, but they look cool!
Did you noc with a syringe solution?

Yea, incredibly sterile inoculation. My two rye jars and my two wbs jars are the same. I received the syringe from a reputable vendor. I noced them up with the syringe and then did those two agar plates. If it is yeast it would have to be in the syringe itself I would figure

D3v1ll, that looks like white bacteria to me. i've only seen yeast infection in pictures but it had a more granular appearance to it. i think that your suggestion that the spore syringe is badly infected is probably the case. it looks like you have mycelium in the one jar though, if you take some of the colonized grains and put them on agar you might be able to salvage what you've got.
kneeonbelly, there doesn't seem to be much difference in the strains of pan cyan but there does seem to be between pan cyan and the other members of the panaeolus family. from my own experience and what i've seen from others the mycelium of panaeolus tropicalis is a bit more resilient and vigorous so it might be the best choice for a beginner. the only issue i've had with it is that it doesn't seem to like some MEA formulations.

3rd test confirmed. My cambo rig is filled with trych spores. Presume there is zero chance of getting any Pan cultures off it ...

In close up it looks like mycelium to me. Always a kind of impossible to say for sure..., but by the looks of it... it could be a syringe of incredibly viable spores?? Or is it too much for that?

Well, I did squirt too much into the plates, probably 4-7 drops. My SAB isn’t exactly clear as it’s pretty old. Lol so I closed the lid to the plate and swirled it slightly. Honestly it looks like cube mycelium but in my two rye jars at certain places where I inoculated it you can see there is wispy mycelium that stands out from the thicker and less spreading Denser white. I figured it was the spores that germinated and we’re finally spreading out from that more dense white.

Hey kneeonbelly, I’ve consistantly heard that pan cams are the strongest, hence the reason I started there.
