I actually use a 60ml syringe with a 12g dispensing needle to bottom water my tubs and keep one next to them so I tried that after I took these pics.
Not sure they’re gonna bulk up but I’ll be happy to end up with several grams worth. Cool enough to see them fruiting on straight coir

if the substrate has been in a high humidity environment and hasn't produced many mushrooms it may not have lost alot of moisture so it may not require much at this point. the best way to judge this is if it has shrunken in size any. if it hasn't you're probably alright until the next flush. if it has noticeable shrinkage though it would be good to replenish what has been lost by bottom watering it. just don't give it more than can it absorb or you will have to drain off that excess. and if you're casing layer is dry it could probably use a light misting but be aware that doing so will cause any pins that are present to abort so try your best to judge how to balance those parameters.

Great tidbit of info.
This tub was fully colonized on the surface by day 7, cased on day 9, and for 9 days I did nothing until I noticed it had slightly shrunken from the walls and colonized like 10% of the casing layer, when I bottom watered with like 25ml and adjusted the top for more FAE. Next morning, pins.
Seems like it took several days longer than most panaeolus grows to pin, not sure if it’s the substrate choice or fruiting chamber, but got some more spawn ready to go. Might do some side by sides

Great info guys! Thank you. I do have some shrinkage and the other 2 trays did just what germs said. They did not end up fruiting tho bc I haven't added water. I'll try tonight.

I had this problem with an outdoor pan grow that was over run by bacteria. Also have this problem now after i left my cakes fully colonized at 85+ degrees for over a week. Im not 100% positive, but i feel like these stunted fruits could be a bacterial issue. I'll post a pic of them after work.

I think you are right about the bacterial issue in correlation to the stunted fruits. I also would have avoided the 85F for colonization. However, for fruiting 85F is pretty ideal for Coplandia varieties. They like it warm. Looking forward to your progress report. Good luck.

85 is no doubt way to hot. It was during the power outages from Irma so I couldnt do much to save em.
These were swimming in a pool of metabs by the time I got to them so I didnt have high expactations.
Printed the large cap after this picture, after that im calling these a loss and starting from agar this time.

Edit: These are just pf style poo cakes, used macmerdins tek. That extra clump of perlite is just me being sloppy in the sgfc.

What's the coldest anyone has had success with Pans without sacrificing too much yield? Is the temp more important for pinset than fruiting, equal, or... ?
I'm troubleshooting with a space heater and wondering how warm I really need to keep it in there.

Primal Call, it's best if you can keep it above 70F/21C. below that the mycelium will begin to colonize more slowly. below 60F/16C it can even stall out.
Germs, with the picture quality it's hard to say for sure if that's a pin or not.

If yoy look at the area below that maybee pin youl notice lots of little white dots, them are all good fruiting mycelium and if they were capable would produce pins on their own
Look at this agar at the dark spots ..that is what I propagated as it's the best fruiting mycelium I would try to transfer that

This was taken exactly 24 hours after the last pics I posted. These things are so tiny lol. Haven’t checked it this morning but I doubt they’ve grown much
My guess is not using any hpoo or straw or anything really and only 1 qt of spawn resulted in the tiny bastards.

Thats the recipe i used, definitely works. Going to give it a second chance when i get more time this spring. I think the shorter wider pp5 containers he uses would work better than the half pints i used, pretty sure thats what waylitjim used aswell.

I have some of these containers that they sell pre sliced lunch meat in now a days. Well they say PP5 on container and lid. I am thinking about giving theme a try. They hold like a pint to a QT depending on size. Large surface area and like 1.5 inch deep.

Thats a good idea man, like doing shallow trays pf style. I had a bacterial issue with the MS batch i just fruited but there were so many things that went wrong i cant blame the vendor or TEK. Going to be using an agar slurry instead of MS next time. Youre making me wish i had more time to try your ideas now haha.
