Yeah when the mushrooms start to pin that's when the mycogone attacks. Just did some reading 99.9. Could be the same thing in the first pic of the Jamaicans you sent. They say usually when it develops in the first flush it's the casing.
Mycogone likes to envelope whatever it's on and turn into fluffy pitted brain fungus with amber liquid. I'm not risking it. I have way too many projects going on right now. Luckily I was smart enough to keep my pan cyan transfers going and I have another plate growing in the closet I can put to my own fresh grain jars. It's raining and still hot outside so It's perfect. I just dumped it in my mulch patch and covered it up with more mulch. If it wants to grow some fruits great. If not I have more stuff going.
I guess I learned a valuable lesson and have to be more careful. Shit. I better go see how my purple mystic 27 qt is going now that I think of it.

Those look like Panaeolus Antillarum in your avatar. Cactus mix makes a great casing for Panaeolus, and is what I would use if I didn't have access to peat either. Look up user "WayLitJim". He uses cactus soil as a casing on his pan grows.

Looking him up now. Haven't been following any specific tek as of the moment. First pan grow. Have cambo and cyan in wide mouth half points with aforementioned casing as of 2 days ago. Hope it goes well. Mini monos coming soon(of both).

Black cat, I hate to say it but I saw this coming a mile away. cutting corners aswell as throwing too much work onto yourself before you know what you can handle are both mistakes I saw you make awhile ago, I thought it may be a more valuable lesson learning the hard way

Hi, Lemur. Panaeolus, and Coplandia are/mean the same thing. You are correct. Panaeolus mycelium doesn't always rejoin strains, and substrains, and is why it's risky to shake Panaeolus myce from multi spore. Furthermore, you are right about catching strains, and, or substrains of mycelium that are observed rejoining on agar. Your likely hood of being able to shake pan mycelium with full recovery goes up from the point of isolating some myce to where the stains, and substrains are observed rejoining.

Hamloaf how do you prepare your cactus soil mix to use for Pans? Got some in a bag left from my cactus and some pans on grains almost ready to spawn, wanted to try a small tray.

Hi Germs, you simply cut it with either Perlite, or vermiculite by 50%. Meaning half cactus soil, and half verm, or perlite, then pasteurize like you would manure @ 140F for an hour and a half. Leave out the + for pans casings.

Must Not Shake. Must warn others...

Bag is 5 days from inoculation with 20 cc's of thick, live liquid culture. The bag was gently rolled around for a few seconds immediatly prior inoculation to distribute moisture & and inoculum through out the grains evenly.

If we're eventually breaking up the spawn into bulk, doesn't that mean the same thing for breaking up the mycelium as per with a shake?
Not trying to be challenging, just not understanding an aspect of this...
