I have found a horse riding school in a cycling distance from my place with a steady supply of aged manure. Have a question thou. CAN THE MANURE BE TOO OLD TOO WORK?? The bits from the picture are dry and don't smell anymore. Is this ok???

UPDATE on the cased agar plate. So I just looked through the side and found 3 more pins, 2 are actually growing from these clumps of knots/primordia. I can see 5 total plus the one all ready cloned. I sprayed some mist into the air and let it fall on the surfaces(the pins are actually below the surface) things looked a bit dry. I hope this helps rather than hurts but we will see.

Thanks 99.99. I will also make a test outdoor bed of PC martinique with this stuff. There is a lot and summer have just started so I think its worth a shot.

So here is a nice little update on my cased Pan cambo agar plate(MS). I can technically say I grew pan cambo now, lol, I got fruits! I have 4qt knocked up by LC from this culture. No shake and about 80-90% on all jars in 6 days. Also glad I have 600ml of that LC.

I don't know all pans would do this. This is one hell of an aggressive MS Pan cambo. Glad I have a bunch of LC made from it. Got 4 jars almost done and intend on using those to grow mushrooms for prints to share.

Just thought I'd share a couple pics of a beautiful Pan Cyan cluster I found growing out in central Florida last week

congrats, MadHatter. keep rolling with that culture and you'll be pulling in some nice fruits.
nice finds, GlassMushroom95. i like the way they have that little bit of coloration on the peak of the cap. must be nice to have access to them in their natural state. where i live in south Florida was once a prime picking region but almost all of the cow fields have since been turned into housing developments.

That stinks dude. I have some half pint, no pours in the sterilizer currently. Going to give casing agar a shot on my Pan cultures. I also am going to try this with some Ps Mexicana cultures.

Sweet, I'm glad someone else is interested. To me it just seems like it could speed things up. I did this, post transfer, along the way of transferring. There was nothing to loose and it gave me some fruits, including a small cluster I need to grab for clone tissue.
I would rather do a couple transfers for a fairly clean plate, case it, snag a fast fruit for clone, clean that up a couple times and fruit that out. I know it will be one of the faster cultures on a plate, or should be at least, and since it is from a post transfer plate its just a win, lol.

So if anybody's having problems getting pins you should try PDA agar, I'm starting out with a new grow for pan tropicals , this mycelium really looks strange from underneath it almost looks like a flower and then on top, it's not whispy at all very strange nothing like a cube but I'm growing it out on PDA agar and I'm getting tons of pins

OK so gotta know.. What's the deal with the name? Is it Copelandia or Paneleous or both? Which is proper?
I like to label my prints C. Cyan to avoid confusion with Psiloycbe , is that the reason? Just curious.

I think it should still be copelandia (like it was originally) to avoid confusion with psilocybe cyan. but I'm sure there's a morphological reason it belongs to paneleous. I use pan cyan as my label because some don't know it used to be copelandia

to answer more directly, it started as copelandia then got changed to paneleous.

i would say it all comes down to personal preference. i like panaeolus because it's what i was first introduced to them as and it seems most growers use that term as well but i notice that in taxonomic circles copelandia is still widely used. copelandia was originally designated for the blue-staining/active members of the genera but eventually they were all placed under panaeolus. apparently there are still disagreements over whether this change was a good idea or not. to add further confusion to the matter Alan Rockefeller stated in a response to a post of mine on the Shroomery facebook group that he believes that panaeolus cyanescens and copelandia cyanescens are two separate and distinct species which can resemble each other almost exactly yet have different genetic profiles and can only be distinguished through microscopic analysis. i'm still trying to wrap my head around this concept.
