My pan cyan tampa tubs from transfer one, MS culture caught the cobweb mold right around full colonization.

You can tell it's cobweb by that stringy, cottony mass with the black dots in it. The cottony looking stuff is the mycelium. The black dots are the spores. These tubs smell horrible too. I don't know how to describe the scent. It's not a healthy smell, and it's kind of breath constricting.
Spawn was contaminated. Should have been more patient and not expanded upon first transfer culture. Good thing I expanded the agar further and have up to 20, T2, and T3 plates of all three different varieties of pans that all look pretty good.
Don't like the way the cyan Australian jars, and the pan Cambo goliath bag is looking after the shake. Lost one of the AUSTRALIAN jars to black mold after the shake too.

This causes me to be suspicious of the LC, so the LC will be drawn into syringes. The last syringe drawn will noc a plate of agar to check the cultures viability. If it's bad, the culture will be expelled, and the syringes will be cleaned. If the culture is good (which I highly doubt) I'll noc some bags with them.

Some pics of my Pan cambo goodies. My best agar plate, like 5th transfer I think. Will be transferred again in a little bit. The jars were knocked up the day before using 1/4th of a plate and that was cut into 3 pieces to spread out in the jars a bit.

Very nice growth on those jars Madhatter
Good thing i didn't shake my mold contaminated jars, i found it growing on the bottom before i was gonna shake the jars. But the top parts were colonised with nice pan-celium.
I spawned the top clean part of that jar onto partially pasteurised hpoo, and "sterilised" coir (since i just dumped it in boiling water). Into flower pots ( so it's somewhat of an outdoor grow)
The grains recovered well and they are colonising already

MadHatter, looking good on those jars. continued success on the rest of your grow. after some recent experiences of my own i have become convinced that it's probably best to just plan for making at least 5 transfers. the mycelium can often look quite clean after 2 but looks can be deceiving as those lingering bits of infection don't always reveal themselves visually until a significant portion of growth has occurred.
Ham, thanks for updating us on your results. sorry to hear it turned out like that. there can be a tendency to only want to share our successes but in doing so we forget that is often through our mistakes that we learn our most important lessons so to not address them only serves to deprive others of that knowledge.

So im trying something new with my pan Jamaicans I cleand them up on agar transferred to grain then to bulk just like normal, whats new is the fruiting process Ive done every process infront of my flowhood and sterilized the cake tins in the oven at 300 degrees for 20 minutes then pressure cooked the jiffy mix as one would do the substrate Once the Jiffy mix casing was done I sealed everything up with micropore tape including two slots in the top of the container for gas exchange . Then placed it in my martha green house with a small hepa blowing in and a cool mist humidifier going as well 4 days later and their really looking good

Hi all.
I went biking to the forest (and check om my allenii patches) and found h-poo there. Collected about 1/2 gallon in volume. Almost every tek calls for aged h-poo.
What should I do with it, just leave it outside. No idea.
I keep it in a bag right now, I know that is no good.
Please advice me .

Get it out of the bag quick. It's easy, all you have to do is get a sheet of plastic or a tarp, or something you can lay in the yard, and place your manure on top of that in full sunlight to dry. The manure is ready to be used as a primary decopser's bulk substrate material as soon as it's completely dry.

OK... I was reading this over again last night and you folks are inspiring me to try harder. My pan attempts always get a lower priority than my cube stuff.
I did have one success with a pan cambo my first time trying but I've been trying with Pan Cam Goliath and Pan Hawaiian lately and just cant seem to get off the starting block.
My first and only successful pan grow:

Thanks dear Sir Hamloaf. How come you don't have "TRUSTED CULTIVATOR" tag yet? Have a lot of your TEKs bookmarked. You are a real GEM here.
Thanks once again.
Have to bike back to the fields then

Hey psilo your successful Cambo grow looks really wet. Where are your further attempts not successful are you getting them to colonize grain? Or the issue is after spawning?

This first monotub is not looking so good.
There are 20 or so tiny Tsetse Flies hanging around inside it. I guess that's what happens when you don't pasteurize the Bovine Dung.
My tube was prepped on Sunday so I'll take a peak under the black poly on Monday when I get back from Detroit.
I have a couple more jars of spawned wheat berries getting close to 100% and another tub ready so I'll probable inoculate the substrate with it on Tuesday. That will be 30 days from wedge drop for these jars. The consensuses seems to be that that is way to long for these jars to colonize and the spawn may not be healthy. This may be just another practice run.
I also did some fresh agar to agar transfers and should be ready to inoculate more jars of grain next week hoping for more normal colonization time. I've learned a lot along the way and will do better with this next set of jars.

Is anyone here growing Panaeolus using coir alone as the bulk substrate? If so, how'd it do? Is this a species that needs manure and such?

I'm curious myself. I've been told it does OK on coir.
Its difficult for me to get manure. When I get back in town in a couple weeks I'm going to spawn these Pan jars, I'm probably putting mine to Straw and casing them, but I'm going to do one on CVG just to see.

Are you sure they are tsetse flies?
If so be careful buddy, they transfer parasites called Trypanosomiasis that cause sleeping sickness. In advanced stages, the disease attacks the central nervous system which alters your biological clock (the circadian rhythm), causes slurred speech, seizures, confusion, and difficulty in walking and talking. the symptoms can develop over many years, and then you'll literally seem like your in a coma but you aren't, and if not treated, the person will die a really painful death. So watch out lol.
