I have a few Pan cultures that are very nice looking. Will do 1 or 2 more transfers to be on the safe side. So once I am satisfied with my agar plates I simply put them to grains, in a jar, like cubes right? Then simply spawn to a mono or tray ideally containing horse or cow poo? Will they need more FAE than cubes?

Well i was going to flip that sub over but i noticed 2 little pins starting so ill let it be

The other thing ive noticed is greenish and blueish spots in the mycelium that only appear before fruiting starts / the green isnt trich i noticed it on my last sub i fruited two

This is the first tub i did and you can notice almost center of the photo is a weird green looking mycelium that turned out to be a nice little cluster

So just an update...before i changed anything i noticed all 4 containers are now pinning wich i cant Believe with all of the overlay that's happened , I did however raise the temperature up to 84° which I think made a difference Mary told me that when she tried to get them to pin below 80° all they did was overlay
Next time i'm going to let them consolidate for two weeks that seems to work the best

So ham I started bisporus, cambo, and cyan all on agar at the same time. My bisporus looked like that so I tossed it cause the cambo and cyan had nice white mycelium with much better growth, so I assumed the bisprus was mold. At least I have the cambo and cyan looking really good with almost no contamination on the 2nd transfer. Slight satellite bacteria, I think I did those shortly after the wife came swinging the fucking door open for some dumb shit that didn't even matter.

Hey guys, just wondering which teks and/ or reading material would be a good starting point for pans? Just ordered a pan Hawaiian syringe (Glad you posted on the other fourm ham, totally forgot about that sale going on) and I'm interested in starting to research pans. Just asking to see what material is current and advisable to use stating into these beautiful little guys. Thank you! Hope everyone is having a great weekend

i think the best place to start is the Mushroom Grow Logs and Pictures subforum:
Mushroom Grow Logs and Pictures
if you use the search function at the bottom of the page and search on the word 'panaeolus' it will bring up a bunch of results which will show the complete process of how a particular grow is accomplished. since the growth parameters for each pan species are pretty much the same any panaeolus growlog will offer relevant information. threads that are less than 5 years old will offer the most up-to-date methods. threads older than 5 years are still relevant but keep in mind that as the process evolves things that seemed like a good idea at one point may not still be. currently, it seems that the most popular teks for growing pans are trays in a SGFC or Martha, monotubs, shoeboxes and manure cakes.

I searched and found one pretty comprehensive list of teks and grow alongs. Just didn't know if i was missing anything. Didn't see anything in the amu or trusted cult teks for pans. Its s shame there's not more info on these little guys. I had a good friend that use to grow them and they are amazing little mushrooms. Thank you for the advise really looking forward to trying these out sometime soon

SO what are people opinions on poo vs no poo in a grow? I have heard that they can be done with only CVG like cubes and that yield just isn't as good, what are opinions on this?

i've only seen 2 or 3 grows that didn't use manure and they weren't as nice as other grows i've seen which did. if anyone can point one out that contradicts this observation i would love to see it.

I forget who it was but one of the old timers had some amazing results with cased grain. But I haven't seen a reproduction even close to his.
Manure isn't hard to aquire or prep, I would just use it personally. But if you feel like experimenting or don't mind if you get a subpar yield then go for it.
Prepping agar right now. Going to try and get bisporus to cooperate along with cinctulus. Maybe pan cyan HI as well.

@ MadHatter..that bisporus was probably fine. ahh well, give it another shot
it is weird looking myc, but so far bisporus has been the hardiest pan i have grown..although tropicalis is up there too

Panaeolus Cyanescens Australian. On agar. From mushpunx. Night before slash, and transfer.

A couple Panaeolus Cyanescens Australia. Running through whole oats. Inoculated with colonized agar wedge. In quart jars.

LC. Inoculated with a MS agar culture.

Panaeolus Cyanescens "Tampa". In a 5 quart bag of whole oats. Inoculated with a full plate. Of well colonized live culture on agar.

I don't want to shake any of these. Since they are all wedge, and transfer inoculated. There may be no alternative, though. I want to begin noccing all grain substrates for Panaeolus with LC. Instead of colonized agar wedge.
