Yeah, I did the same, think my casing was a wee bit thick though, Iβll change it up next grow, probably in a week if these are anything to go by.

I like adding perlite to my substrate. It helps to aerate and soften the substrate, and my mushrooms clearly love it.

Anyone had weird stuff going on with their plates?
I used a load last week to noc up some jars, but there were a few that were a bit 'shabby' so I didn't use them. During the last week the unused plates have been sat in a box waiting to be re-used next time I mix up some agar. Today I opened the box and they all have what I can only describe as blue rings in them.
I think it's contamination, but it looks different to any I've seen before, so I thought I'd run it past you guys (I thought about the agar thread, but as they're TTBVI I figured users in this thread may have encountered similar).

Edit - sorry you had to look at these, they're pretty gnarly.

Itβs the bruising of the mycelium and itβs normal. Pans do this. they may also begin to form tiny little stones as well
As for the black?? Idk if itβs just the picture if theyβre is black in person, but thatβs not normal lol

Thanks Supa - it's all blue - I've attached another pic that might show it better, but my crappy camera seems to show it as black for some reason.

I've thrown those others away already, but I'll try a few transfers from this one and see how they do :-)

Should I be aiming to clone one of these? Will cloning make that big a difference in yields/flushes?

Not necessarily. Was thinking about placing some stem butts on water agar or a brf puck.

If you're getting sidepins maybe cloning a cluster from the middle?

Iβve only seen one cluster worth cloning so far and have t fruited yet. The canopies eventually just came for me with continuous runs of multispore. Thatβs when Iβd clone a big cluster

Cheers Supa. I'd already thrown most, but just took 10 transfers from between 5 & 6 on the last one (I do transfers with a needle, they take ages to grow out but I get lots and the bits don't get stuck on a scalpel).

When growing cambos I would get the odd tub where I would almost exclusively get side and bottom pins. I think some of it was because of timing and I waited to long before fruiting. If TTBVI is as fast as you guys say then maybe not letting it consolidate but case and fruit right at full colonization might solve the side pins.
Got back after leaving for the week. It was pretty hot here and I reduced FAE to avoid drying the substrates out by taping up the top holes and side holes like this.

and left the lid on the unmodified tub and the bottles on flipped but straight.

Fruits were clearly stretching. Some looked normal but others had extremely fuzzy feet or at that extent I would call it fuzzy legs. First photo is the unmodified tub and the tallest fruit in the last photo came from a bottle.

The tub which fell in the sink and got scooped back in the tub didn't contaminate and had 5 big bisporus growing. It again produced the heaviest fruit so far. Didn't take a photo before picking cause I didn't realize it was that tub just looked like the accident never happened.

Anyone else growing P. Bisporus? What's you average fruit size on harvest? Mine have been fruiting for about 7 days now and the biggest mushrooms I have so far are about 4.5cm tall with cap about 1.5-1.8cm wide. Although the growing temps are 21C so I assume they're just growing slow. Still quite a bit smaller than Baba's 15+cm tall fruit.

Bisporus is usually tiny. Outdoors it can get big but don't expect chonkers indoors.

Oh, RIP. I was under the impression it was one of the "bigger" (especially bigger caps) Pan variety out there.

Average for me so far is ~100mm tall with a 20-30mm cap. Some are smaller and others have big caps of about 50mm.
Still waiting for the discarded substrates to grow a few chonkers but it's just too dry at the moment.

I guess another question - how do you tell when to harvest them, since there's no veil to break? I assume when the cap starts curling upwards?
