Does anyone in te UK have any suggestions about mail order horse poo?
I was hoping to find a source locally (lots of horsey people round here), but it's not stopped raining in a fortnight.
I've a load of plates that are getting close to being ready for grain and thought adding a bit of poo to the grain before I PC it might be helpful.
Regardless, I'm going to need some soon and collecting it 'in the wild' whilst everywhere's flooded won't be much fun.
Thanks

I wouldnt worry about the rain. Its always being rained on and youre going to wet it prior to pasteurization anyway.

Iโm assuming heโs worried about rutting up the yard maybe. I wouldnโt worry about adding poo to the grain personally. Especially if itโs ttbvi.

Been laying low but I'm back.
Two of my bisporus bags I had in fruiting never did anything. But the other two have been flushing well from MS and I've been getting as many clean clones as I can (which isn't many lol, tossing about 80% of the plates because of bacteria).
Setting up a jcm fruiting chamber in the next few days to start running cultures in. I have four more MS bags to fruit too.
Also, sampled .25 grams dry of the Bisporus and did some meditation. Found it really helpful without being distracting. Had a very nice body buzz (which is great, I usually get body load due to a chronic pain condition). Strong piti as we would say in Buddhist meditation. Slight closed eye visuals, enough to give me some insight into what was going on with me without taking over.
I think 1 gram would probably dissolve me into everything. But I don't have intentions to mess around beyond .5 anytime soon.
Questions on the JCM for anyone else who runs one. I bought a 4 port 300gph aquarium pump that comes with four 1" round air stones and an aquarium heater. The tote I'm using is 105qt I believe (maybe 110). But it's enough I can put four shoebox totes inside. I was considering drilling the tote out like an EZ dial mono instead of the typical JCM setup with the holes in the lid, thinking the lower holes will let the CO2 spill out and that the way jcm set up his handles will account for the upper holes.
I guess I'm curious if the four air stones are going to cut it with this hole set up or if I should get more efficient air stones or a second pump (the original tek uses two) and if anyone has thoughts on it.

Quick question: how does everyone deal with trays/tubs that overlay?
Several tropicalis trays cased with peat have overlayed and became stagnant. Several trays were cased with either verm only or a mix of verm/pumice and are pinning/moving along.

Is it suggested to scrape the overlayed myc off and recase? Maybe just recase? TIA

Put grain to substrate about 5-6ish days ago and this is where it is at. The grain looked a bit mucky at the bottom of the grain jar so hense the "looks dodge" remark, however, no offensive smell just a bit nutty... anyways, casing layer now??

@Fairyring, it's hard to judge looking through the lid on your container, but it looks close to fully colonized to me. I'd say your ok for casing.

Did you adjust the PH of the peat casing with Ca2? Having a higher PH will discourage the mycelium from colonising the casing layer as peat is slightly acidic.

Maybe try upping your dose of pickling lime? What ratio do you use?

After considerable metric to imperial fuckery, my standard is 1 and a half tsp per pint. Maybe try upping your hydrated lime to this and go from there. My usual recipe is metric by volume but then the lime is measured in imperial units
3L peat, 1L Verm, 650ml water with 1tbsp calcium hydroxide
I dissolve the lime in the water and then hydrate the casing with the lime infused water. I do get some colonisation of the casing layer (never usually detrimental) but on my next run was gunna try 2 tbsp

Did transfers from 1 of these 2 plates today. Accidentally put down too many new plates for LAGM and ran out of clean plates to transfer the second 1. Time to make more agar.

Thanks swab, I don't know why I'm not dissolving in the water already either lol. I occasionally take notes and happened to notice I went lighter on the lime this run....for whatever reason i don't remember, but I've never run into this issue with overlay and it seems like you may have nailed it.
Any suggestions how I should treat overlayed trays?

Both of the plates I shared are swabbed plates. T0.
And are pinning like mad.
