I'm about to spawn TTBVI. It's winter here. Temperature inside is around 68 F during the day, a bit lower at night. I have a martha with space heater attached to thermostatic switch but last time I used it it dried the tubs out. Is it necessary to use it? Or should I just spawn to shoeboxes and leave them on a shelf? Was thinking if I did need to put it in the martha I could put the shoeboxes in a water tub in the martha to try and mitigate moisture loss.

I can spray more often. Thats not a problem. Its just so hard to tell when its too dry, too wet, or just right. Especially before the sub is completely colonized or after adding a casing. Considering not adding a casing this time though. Maybe just a thin top layer of coir/manure.

I'm aware of that thread, and it's a big part of the inspiration for my grow. However, it doesn't mention temperature.

68 is fine. During the fall and winter my space can be around that temp and no issues thus far, generally I’m in the low 70s but have had plenty of months around 68. Hell last year our heat cut out while I was on vacation during late winter and my house was 40F for several days when I got home, they didn’t die or nothing but started back up once the heat kicked on again. Of course your experience may vary, I also haven’t grown ttbvi, so you results may vary. But cambos, various cyans, and bisporus have all been fine for me when the temps are around that.

Thank you for the reply. I have a good amount of spawn. Im probably going to split some in and out of the martha. I still think its a good idea to put some containers into a water tub setup in the martha to prevent drying out.
Ill be happy just to get some fruits to clone. Ttbvi seems a whole lot more hearty than the pan cambos and og bvi ive had in the past. Im sure they will fruit at 68ish.

That first plate is such a perfect example of an ideal germ plate IMO. One short line right in the middle of the plate and now there is a lot of room for the various colonies to grow out before deciding what to transfer. Nicely done!

Finally getting somewhere with Bisporus. The slowness of these did put my patience to the test and had probably made me jumping the gun in regards to timing. Love it though cause it's something new and challenging.
Getting staggered flushes with up to just a dozen or so fruits and new ones coming in constantly. Quite surprised how these are taking off towards the end as they do take their sweet time before starting to fruit.
This is what it looks like atm, nothing to brag about but a lot left to be looking forward to.
Fruited@Spawn uncased, photos taken 20/22 days after spawn, compost/coir

Fruited@Spawn and cased 8 days in, photos taken 20/22 days after spawn, compost/coir

Colonized&Consolidated and cased 10 days after spawn, photos taken 20/22 days after spawn, compost/coir

Only made 6 MS tubs all together which is all I can manage to do this time around but will be making clones for next growing season so I can fire them up right away next time. I even made it to the 5g+ club but it feels like cheating with Bisporus as the fruits are getting massive without even doing anything special.

Amazing how they go from dark brown to almost white.
Just a beautiful species.

Pan cambo, Komodo island clone.
 Third you say... Nice.
Anyone know where there might be a Cintilus print looking for a new home?
I am very grateful to have a healthy/happy Pan Cyan Jamaica culture. One of the first boxes gave 118g wet (39, 63 and 16, when the green showed up). This culture likes to be cased. The other box which wasnt cased gave just over 30g wet from two flushes. Spawn volume was 250ml or approx 90g in each box.

I have some panaeolus cinctulus prints. I grew some not long ago, like maybe 2 months ago.

These guys produced pseudoscelrotia pretty heavily on agar and on the substrate itself.

Some potential for some clones there bud! It’s crazy the colour change they go through from pinning to fully formed fruits. I always think they’re aborting when they first start pinning but they just keep getting bigger and sometimes give almost a two tone cap. Beautiful mushrooms and potent AF!

Nice photo! Are you setting the container on black felt, then curving the felt up behind?

Spawned.

Put some containers in a little water tub shoebox to prevent drying out. Thermostaic switch set to 74 F
