well, it's not the most prolific flush but it's my first successful mushroom fruiting so i'm pretty amped. these are some pan tropicalis that i managed to grow from MS that are fruiting open air without a casing layer. it wasn't my initial plan to do things this way but after experiencing an unexpected setback i decided to try something unconventional just to see what would happen.

i had some MS>WBR>colonized grain>agar transfers in no-pour plates that weren't spreading out onto the agar. the chunks of grain had continued to myceliate eventually becoming fluffy white masses just sitting on the agar but not giving off any transferable growth. i had way more of them than i needed and they weren't doing much so i considered discarding some but then i thought of something i could try as a work-around. so i removed the agar took some pasteurized substrate and threw it over the top of them, didn't even break up the mycelium. i had very little expectation that anything good would come of it but there was nothing to lose in trying. i figured the best-case scenario would be getting a few pins to clone. much to my surprise after 7 days the mycelium had colonized most of the substrate and a few of the plates were even shooting up pins. so i cloned the first few pins that popped up and while doing so i noticed that even more were coming up so i thought why not try and fruit them as well. i would have applied a casing layer but i was concerned it might damage the pins and i was curious to see what the mycelium looks like as it goes through this process. and i had planned to use a martha-style setup for fruiting but i have this nosy cousin staying with us and if i have any kind of fruiting chamber out in the open it's going to invite suspicion. so while the yield may not be impressive it is an interesting example of how trying things that go outside the box can sometimes bring unexpected results.
after harvesting, the final weigh-in came in at 6.75 grams fresh. it wasn't much but at least it was enough for just under what i've seen recommended as a proper single dosage(7 grams fresh/.7 grams dried). i promptly chewed them all up and washed them down with a glass of water. i found the flavor of them to be quite enjoyable, kind of similar to portobello. within 25 minutes i was feeling the effects and they did not disappoint. the physical aspect was like energetic waves pulsing through my body and the visuals offered nice displays of the fractalian fabric which binds our reality together. and there was no sense of anxiety or tension whatsoever just blissful contentment. this was my first psychedelic experience in 20 years and though i have extensive experience with most of the classic psychedelics this was only my second time doing shrooms so it was a pretty awesome way to get reaquainted and i look forward to the next time i can partake in this experience again. getting to trip on pan trops is a special event in any context but to do so from ones that i grew myself was definitely one of the highlights of my life. it's been a year since i made my first inoculations and there have been many setbacks along the way and probably many more to come but at least i feel like i'm on the right track.

thanks, 99.99. alot of times things we look forward to can fail to meet up to expectations but that is not the situation with panaeolus mushrooms.

I can't wait to grow them. I got like 12 different things on agar right now, but you guys got me wanting to go start the pans up.

On a bright note - I don't think you often see Pan antillarum grows

Thats pretty funny mycomattie. Definitely you're one of the few to cultivate it.
Just reposting this from 6 months ago in this thread since you guys are discussing pans vs cubes. I haven't taken anymore, I plan to soon. I am on board, I only eat these myself or give to pretty much just one friend or two, so I could care less about weight. These take up less space, more potent if I want to make chocolates with them I have less fruit to deal with. Also more fun/interesting to grow to me. Won't be messing with cubes much anymore...
Also I'd like to reiterate, don't take more than .6 or so your first time with them. One gram was absolutely insane...
I'm not precisely sure what you guys mean by "bodyload". To me it was about the same as cubensis. I felt absolutely drained of energy. Completely weak. Maybe because I didn't eat much and stayed up until like 4 am, but still it felt like it was the mushrooms. Wasn't your ordinary weakness from lack of food. Worst part about them for me. I swear I had to pee about 20 times that night. Anways like I said I had way too much. Going to take around .4 next time for a lighter daytime nature trip. The visuals were very central/south american looking.

d0urd3n said: So I think I had a gram of the pan cambo. The visuals were absurd. I've only tripped really hard on cubes once so I can't compare scientifically but the visuals were super geometric and wavy. Cubes I got more abstract visuals in my mind. This was far more geometric. Very intricate. Also I stepped outside when it got super intense. The sky turned into a painting of sorts. Like a geometric painting. Very cool.
Anyways. A lot less mind fuck. That is probabaly because I was with other people though I think we kept each other halfway in touch with reality.
Probabaly over did it a bit. .6 would have been plenty. Sure was beautiful though. Hard at times for sure. By the end of it I was laying on the ground just wishing the visuals would stop so I could sleep. They go so damn fast I wish they would have slowed to 25 percent speed.

thanks, funkymonk22. those are pan tropicalis. i wasn't expecting them to be so colorful. most of the pictures i've seen of cultivated pan trops they were some shade of gray.

I have a couple trays that have stalled out due to bacteria. they haven't been opened since pc'd. I was wondering if I could just wash off the uncolonized grain like a stalled brf cake?

i had some infected grainspawn that stalled out one time so i washed off the uncolonized grains and mixed it with some substrate and it wound up colonizing it. the infection overtook the mycelium before it could fruit but that may have been because i cased it too early. anytime i've seen the mycelium stall on substrate though it never came back.

so, here's what happened. I prepped some grain and mixed it with deer poo in trays (with GE holes) and sterilized as is. then I made some blenderless li and inoculated. I'm hoping it will fruit because I am not going to be breaking it up so it won't need to recover.
