Sorry for double post but I got excited about test results for BVI.

I expected the pans to be too potent for the test chart so I used half the amount per instructions from Miraculix (the maker of the potency test kits). So using 0.075 grams instead of 0.150 grams means you double the reading on the test.

I am reading 21mg/g x 2 for 4.2% actives. Tallest reading for me to date.

I also have had a few issues with the Pans and weak recovery after shake, have any of you tried a more gentle approach with them?

Bispo in particular, really seems to not appreciate being shook violently. I have moved to a sort of gentle rotational tumble of the grain instead of all out shaking, kinda like the jar is a cement mixer, really helps a lot to get better recovery if you don't overdo it

I dunno why she does that, but the myc is so whispy like mold and looks so delicate on grain, I wonder if with shaking we injure it in some way

and that is a nice test result RM for sure

Nice! If that reading is accurate, you would have won the Psychedelic Club of Denver Mushroom competition. What scale are you using by the way? I'd like to get something similar.

meanwhile, I can't get Bisporus to run well on grains.  Adding manure to everything just to get it going.

This is my go-to procedure if I want fast and vigorous colonization of spawn. Even just pure sawdust works for this. Maybe they like the cellulose.

I'm going to try the sawdust.  I tossed a handful of HWFP in some hot water.  Squeezed them as dry as I could.  And loaded it up with my standard millet prep.

One jar is about 70/30 millet/sawdust by wet volume.

The other is about half a teaspoon of sawdust to half a mycoquart millet.

Going to run them side by side and see if I can dial in a good ratio.  So far I like that it's simpler than manure tea and I think the sawdust will give better visibility on contamination then dropping manure straight into the jar.

Curious what your process is Adas.

Thanks Baba Yaga for taking away my worries about shaking Panaeolus. I shook some jars that were really slow and looked like they would stall at 10 days. There was little visible mycelium so I figured a shake would beat them to death. 3 days after the shake they look almost fully colonized.

Glad to see everyone with their 'bacterial' pan jars just going full send! I've had four quarts of weird, wet looking oats glowering down at me on my shelf for the last 2 weeks (nocced with LC from an isolate). I spawned them yesterday, two went into 6qt sterilite shoeboxes at 1:1 with bucket-tek pure coco, the other two went together into a 13qt sterilite shoebox at 1:1 with the same coco. If I can't get a flush out of this 'min-tek' approach, I'll start mucking around with some poo, but wanted to see if I could avoid that just to get something going. I'd like to play around with MS from this isolate...

Damn.

Be careful.  Based on those tests just posted I'll be keeping it under half a gram while I get my feet wet.  And I've been eating cubes for going on three decades lmao.

As I experimented with other species, I said “fuck cubes” for sure but could never truly get rid of em. Nats, Tamps, Semps don’t give me deep introspective/therapeutic trips. Now that I’ve finally made my way to Pans, it’s fuck cubes fr

I tried .25g TTBVI a couple weeks ago and had an intense experience. I could see up through my ceiling into the universe. Intricate OEVs with a brutal, dark headspace I’d blame on set/setting. Time dilation galore. I’d compare the experience to 1g strong/mutant cubes.

Half a tsp in a quart jar is definitely too little. It might help a bit but don't expect miracles. I'd suggest something closer to 4 tablespoons into a qt jar.

This one cluster should be enough for one mild/middle intensity trip. (It seems like something about 7-10 grams). I'd eat that all raw
Fresh pans are just awesome, regarding the trip qualities and vibe.
Set and setting. Chew them well, swallow with drinking water, and lie down waiting for the trip.

@Adas, I’ve never heard of this sawdust thing. I wanna give it a go as well! Does it matter what kind of sawdust? Soft or hard?

@tree frog, good idea on starting low 😂

@mojavemyc, can you believe some people are saying they’ve done 2 grams!!!! 🙀 🤣 man idk if I’ll ever have the balls to do that much

Never grown cubes. Had bad luck with GT. Tried to go back to spore and got lots of bac. Maybe will try again sometime but maybe not. I have like 10 jars of pans colonizing. Thanks Supa. I'm looking forward to it
