Thank you guys! All of your grows inspired me to come on over to the Pan side 😎 I’m kicking myself for waiting so long
@ Yoshi, yessir the hpoo sub is on the left
@ Baba, I’m using one of sleepydave’s recipes. Bit of a guinea pig on this one haha. NPK & a micronute blend with mostly calcium, magnesium, and zinc. I added 20ml & 7ml to the water I used to hydrate 1 brick of coir.

Probably could have pulled more from the tub, but the second flush is well on its way & I was afraid to mess it up. I think I’ll increase FAE on the next one & prep my sub a little wetter, as I had a hard time keeping the surface from drying out.

Tried the EZLC tek. Inoculated a couple of test jars this morning but looking for feedback as I have had no luck with LCs so far.
Does this look like Bisporus in LC?

Same syringe but settled and with slight condensation (it was in the myco-fridge).

Third shot, after condensation wiped again.

Can't help you with the myc but IMO this is a better tek for making LC in the future

Thanks, I'll read through the tek and give it a shot!

Do I need to keep pans more wet and misted than cubes? I got mine in a martha and can dedicate time for morning and evening misting. Hard to tell if im getting it wet enough but dont want to over water.

If you have a martha then look into https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27993602#27993602. He had a pretty sweet setup and gave lots of people advice on dialing in. I do miss him very much.Quote:
stroopwafelman said: Not the best pic, here's the Pan. Bisporus mycelium in question that's sticking to the glass circled.

Needs pretty strong shaking for it to get dislodged, just spinning it with a magnetic stirrer doesn't usually completely remove it from the glass and only positioning the stirrer on top actually achieves it. Other than that the LC itself is pretty much crystal clear. My cube LC never did that, even when I grew it out in jars without a magnetic stirrer and let it grow out for a while without touching it.
If it's just that one spot then maybe it's clinging to something that got stuck to the glass.

I does look like it could be. What trouble have you had with LC?

If the culture is healthy and the substrate fully colonized then they can handle a lot of moisture IME. I don't know though if it is necessary to keep them that way.
Is that martha hooked up to a humidifyer/mister?

I think it might be my lids that's causing me issues Baba. This LC had a lid that was sealed with high temperature silicone and others haven't been. I like the poke tek though. I've been clam shelling wedges.
Anyway the grain jars I inoculated showed recovery in 12 hours, consistent with pastys tek. I shook them to distribute moisture.
I'll post the jars in a couple of days assuming they recover and don't turn funky colors.

Exciting times! Looking forward to hear about the outcome.
Edit: The poke is dope and was all I did in the last years. Maybe consider rocking LC's with unmodified lids.

I have multiple LC jars and pretty much all of them have that to some degree, when I shake it up and remove the mycelium from the glass the next day it's back (not sure if it's the same spot every time though)

I did the poke this morning... and I mixed up my jars while doing it. May have double inoculated two jars with ATL 7 & Pan Bispirus.
I guess in a week if two jars are still just lme sediment I'll know.
Also I used unmodified lids when I tried LCs last year and had suction when I opened them which didn't seem good. I have 8 modified now with just a whatman filter and high temp silicone so those should work for now.

I really like the poke method. Much less chance of transferring contam to LC. Takes a couple days longer, due to starting with a microscopic sample, but mine is normally ready to use within 2 weeks.
Can't help ya with mixing up the jars though. Hehehe...

Yeah I liked the poke. A little worried I didn't get anything in there but I guess trust is part of the tek.
But inoculating with such a small sample seems like an excellent idea and the poke itself is easier than cutting a wedge.

No just a space heater. I have a cool mist humidifier but I have reservations about using it with the space heater in the martha.

I always try to keep my substrate with a light glisten to it to make sure it’s moist. I feel ya on the space heater in the tent. I know a lot people do it that way but didn’t like that idea. If you can’t heat the entire room, I would make a make shift duct to blow the heater into the tent. Then you don’t have to worry about moisture and electronics.

My substrate is cased so its very hard to tell. Also hard to say whether just the surface is dry or if the whole substrate underneath is drying out as well. Im trying to mist generously twice a day. The myc looks oyherwise good through the clear shoebox.

Is your casing as thick as it looks in the picture? People usually keep it as thin as possible for Pans, and often times will try to keep it less than 100% coverage. (Like 90% to 95% coverage)

I put it on as thin as possible and i kept it dry to help. 1 quart was more than enough for the 2 tubs and 2 trays in the pic.
The substrate itself is a bit deeper than I wanted. I forgot to slightly compress after spawning. Shameful, I know.
