Top fruting some bisprous quinoa half pints in hopes of something to clone. Never liked the look of the agar plates so this is a hail mary pass.
This is a bisporus on 1 pint millet from a better looking plate a few transfers from the one above.
And this is my best looking plate of bisporus to date heading to millet when it gets a little bigger.
Still fighting with BVI on agar.
Kinda muffed the wedge transfer on this one.

Have you had much luck using quinoa? I have lots on hand so that would be interesting.

I haven't found any particular advantage to using it. It is really expensive relative to other grains and seeds. I just had some on hand and wanted to test it. It works fine and I liked using a smaller grain than wheat and oats.
But that was before I found and tried millet. Now I am on team low prep millet. I can get a 50 pound bag of millet locally for $35. That is about the same as food grade wheat and twice what I pay for racing oats locally and 1000% worth it in time and ease of jar prep.
tldr; Eat your quinoa, use millet instead.

Okay... I am all but done with this culture.
I can get it to here...
 [url=https://files.shroomery.org/files/23-35/325160920-42-PCN3-bag-no-case.jpg]
Even case a few
 And stand them in water...
And here...

But nothing... Water tub, air holes half covered or just open. Mist, no mist... eventually just make the surface of the myc slightly glassy from getting the water wrong.
I kept this puck uncovered so I could see something - not that I knew what to look for...

And it does appear to bruise blue if I let it dry out a bit.

So, I should have Pan cyan myc... But I cannot get them to pin. I was hoping to avoid a JCM or some other esoteric fruiting chamber.
I have a fish tank air supply, some stones (one 5" flat one), a mini ultrasonic mister and an 65L tub. Your opinion? Is it worth a go or just look for an easier variety?

I am willing to go one more round with these two plates...

Unless someone tells me they are more likely mold than Pan Cyan myc.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Nevermind... The Bisp of ReverendMyc above clears it up. My plates aren't nearly as organised.

In my experience, finding a fruiting pan culture is the most time consuming thing. Coming from cube grows where almost everything will fruit, pans really had me frustrated. I tried different substrates, changing fruiting conditions, different casing, different fruiting chambers. In the end I had success just running bottles of a ton of different genetics. Once I got some to fruit I cloned the tissue. I looked at that growth on agar. Now I’ve been able to reliably fruit multiple pans, not canopies yet, but plenty of fruit. I’ve become better at picking myc from germ plates. I’ve found that a good culture will fruit in multiple different conditions. The culture is the most important thing IMO. Run a bunch of small grows, get anything to fruit, go from there. It helped me finally be able to produce pans.

Thanks for that Roscoe! It gives me hope.
I am in the same boat as Genome with pans. @Genome794 In fact, a lot of your pictures could have come from my grows. So don't put too much weight in anything that I say. I am still trying to figure this species out myself.

Same thing here and it's getting more and more frustrating that there's some hidden undesirable riding along across multiple plates and multiple species in my grows too...I've got all the components to build a hood but this isn't quite the proper time yet, so Im still working in a Sab.....with glad rounds....that I tend to reuse over and over
Also, I'm having a real helluva time getting pan clones to take, is there a foolproof solution out there?

i guess this is the best advice out there, i got six different cultures in to fruiting condition in hopes something will fruit and 9 more cultures to test out before heat wave hits, getting a clean pan culture is easy but getting it to fruit is a trip in itself and i am so done with cubes, should have listen to TC and shroomery a long time a ago cube is a cube unless its P.E pan are eating casing layer just like P.E i was not prepared for this side of pan so far its a fun journey should i case them again or let it ride out.

What do you case them with? I use calcium carbonate in my casing to bump the pH to roughly 9,5-9,9 and not much if any gets colonized.

Hey Genome, are you using a low nutrition recipe for pan plates? Dropping my lme down to 0.5% from 1.5 helped visually.

Huh strange, do you let them consolidate for a few days after full colonization ? I would try and case them again!

The batch earlier this week are 0.5% ME and Nutr. yeast with 10 water agar.

awesome bispo tubs.. i' seen some of your work before. amazing job..
I couldn't get my bispo pinset as full as you when it came to non automated tubs; i tried almost a dozen or more isolated cultures.
this is one of my best tubs, will harvest this bad boy late night today.
