I've been testing out a fruiting chamber the past few weeks based on ideas I've gathered in this thread. I'm wondering, how much manual watering is involved for you guys? After running these setups for a while, are you able to limit or eliminate misting or syringe watering? If yes, how do you achieve this?

After much failure and frustration, a lot of knowledge and experience gained, Im giving pans another crack. Steaked grain water agar with BVI. Does this look like the correct myc? Will let grow a bit more before transferring.

I just finished inoculating 15 Pan Cakes with NecD LC. I had plenty of LC so I wasn't stingy. I added 4ml to each, 1ml per hole. These were very easy to make! Hopefully they colonize and fruit just as easily!

Not sure that this is a big help, but I recently ran into a problem with my print of TTBVI. I kept getting 2 different phenotypes on germ plates, just like yours - one heavy, dense growth and one lighter growth. On the advice of counsel, I went with the lighter stuff. Here's a T1 transferred on 9/11, about 5 days of growth. So, is this Pan cyan myc, or is it crap mold?

Mainly adding this thread to my list, but also sharing a pic of my best (to my inexperienced eye) BVI and Bisporus plates. Feedback welcome.

Looks good to me. What kind of agar is that? In the past my pan myc would stall out on LMA 100% of the time. IME only grain water stopped this.

it depends baba yaga is misting fruits directly.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27637997#27637997

i am using martha tent 4kg of expanded clay on the bottom with one liter of water completely closed with tape, 1 week in didn't need to mist yet. you don't need syringe to water.

i guess i will mist during casing layer and thats about it.

Do you use a fogger, aquarium heater or bubbler?

What's missing for me in baba yaga's writeup (and others) is the temperature difference between the room and FC. My setup is in the basement where it's 15C/60F 50%RH, so I pretty much need an FC to keep it warm, but it also means the fresh air is very dry. I planned to run the FC at around 27C, but looks like I have to scale it back to keep humidity up. This all depends on how much FAE is really needed of course, but I'd like to have some headroom to adjust as I go along.

none of the above, i am using 4kg of expanded clay on the bottom with 1 liter of water its enough to get 90% humidity in a seal tent, i am using a cheap UV air purifier with 800rpm as air intake always working and a beast 3000rpm exhaust fan as air out take which runs for a minute every six hours and humidity is 85% to 90% 17c/62f 20c/68f and its going well, i am gona fruit at 20c/68f i know people who fruit at 17c/62.6 and it works, in my experience pan need more FAE and humidity temps are same as cubes if its above 17c they will fruit.

the yaganator named after baba yaga :raisemyglass:
this setup need no maintenance and its my go to fruiting chamber for all shrooms

pan cambo, pan bi, natalensis

i don't know why i was lead to believe pan mycelium is like something so fragile and can die easily, i am refrigerating my cultures up till now after three months no problem at all.
pan cambo mycelium devouring pearl millet

compare to cube they are not much different

so does the temperatures 20c to 27c fruiting temps work fine, the print i got of pan is from fruiting at 17c. i can add another fan and bring down temp to 17c but i am going for 20c

Good stuff pesa, at 20-22C I can get any humidity I want, even if I vent the box every 15 minutes. I don't have much vertical space, I just have a mono inside a heated box, and airstones are good for keeping things compact.

How often do you clean the tent/hydroton?

Meditation is passive learning. Tabernacling with the one infinite Creator is passive learning. It is the learning from listening to the voice one cannot hear which answers questions which one cannot ask. The process cannot be known and cannot come into consciousness in local sense, yet the learning is there. And the strength of spirit and will which comes from this learning is helpful.

Apologies! Late to the party. Yep, I am using GWA. Based on rye grain. The plates aren't always that clear (I should let the starch settle out and decant the clear stuff).

Grain water agar seems to be the way to go with pans. IME, cultures stalled out on LMA 100% of the time. Swapped to GWA and the issue went away overnight.

tubs are great setup but for compact space and growing a lot tent goes a long way.
once every three to four months i wipe down every thing with 70% alcohol and run the exhaust for about 5 to 6 minutes and thats about it so far no bacteria or mold build up.

Are you guys diehard casing or going the Baba Yaga 3.0 tub route?

Looking at that tek, I should get horse manure and coir. I'll look for field aged just to be easy. And verm is expensive currently but I have a bit. Otherwise the casing, peat, verm, and hydrated lime. Hydrated lime is easily available but I certainly don't need 50lb of it. Any other quantity seems to be infinitely more expensive.

What do you guys go to for casing purchases?

Pickling lime is the same as hydrated lime and can be found in small quantities at some grocery stores if they have a canning section.

Just my opinion, but I would use calcium carbonate instead of lime. Much harder to fuck up.

Thank you
I pretty much eyeball everything but its roughly 50% hay, 20% coir, a dash of horse manure pellets and verm. The casing is sphagnum moss 50/50+. Difficult/expensive to get peat here so I just use moss instead, works just as well.
