very nice .
In this case they are in a fruiting set up like JCM's tek. A large tote with water in the bottom heated to 81-82F with an aquarium heater. There are also aquarium bubblers in the bottom to bring in fresh air and to contribute to humidity. The large tote has ventilation holes and also a computer fan that forces in fresh air and provides evaporation for 10 minutes per hour. Ive misted a bit when it looks like the fan is too drying. I have also fruited these in a mono tub and a Martha and even a roast chicken container at room temperature with success:

It's happening, my man You're onto something...

These are either going to be thick 'Wild Coast' or I goofed somewhere. These are outside in a pot and after eating all the cacti soil, they sat. I was thinking of adding a thin layer of peat with a small pinch of RGS but received a happy surprise instead.

Such a lovely mislabel Reminds me of that time I thought I was growing 'Starry Night'...

I have been isolating myc for past few months from supposed BVI swab. First test run did not go well, only one test jar out of 5 made pins which kept aborting. Somehow after some time these managed to grow somewhat. However this does not look like BVI. What do i have here?
Could the reason be too much humidity? I was inspecting one mush now and it seems it does bruise a bit. But was also black inside when teared apart and smells a bit like rot. Similar i had with previous copelandia runs when it aborted.
Or is this other spicies?

Edit: they do bruise, so must be active? Looks more black on photo, but it left a nice blue tint residue on that cotton wipe.

Got a few questions regarding Pan cultivation: 1. How much manure would be a good start for a BRF-type blend? Or better yet do you have proportions i.e 2:1:1 that would include manure as well.
2. Is it a good idea to go spores to BRF+manure provided I sterilized the BRF jars just like you'd sterilize them normally in a PC when making cubes sans the manure? Or should I try to get clean agar culture first and only then do a BRF puck?
3. Do Pans also fruit in-vitro on BRF just like cubes? My preferred method of getting samples in cubes was spores>BRF>water agar>agar. Would this work for pans too or not?

Manure can help quite a bit as long as it's well aged. It's not necessary to get fruits, but I would still recommend it for Pans. Look for the oldest manure pile you can find. If you can't find any that's old enough, I would begin aging it yourself, and proceed with coir only for now.
I have an opposite experience. Pans doesn't grow well on old manure and growed the best on fresh (sun dried) manure. 3 years old manure lost its properties and the yield was much lower.

So this has been sitting in 20-22C for a week. I made an impulsive decision to add some unpasteurized straw when spawning to correct field capacity.. Anyway, time for casing or wait some more?

EF Tek can get you there without manure, or add as much as you please.
2. Is it a good idea to go spores to BRF+manure provided I sterilized the BRF jars just like you'd sterilize them normally in a PC when making cubes sans the manure? Or should I try to get clean agar culture first and only then do a BRF puck? You can go MS on brf regardless of additives. Never hurts to go agar first, but I've used brf cakes to clean up dirty spores by just cloning a successful fruit.
3. Do Pans also fruit in-vitro on BRF just like cubes? My preferred method of getting samples in cubes was spores>BRF>water agar>agar. Would this work for pans too or not?
I have not personally seen pans do in vitro fruiting on BRF, but have on agar. So I can't see why not.

howdy fellaz! somehow despite myself, im having some success with a print i took from some pans i found in the wild and wanted to share . also to make sure im not actually just growing some foenescii . (which to my untrained eye and compared to yalls grows, they sort of resemble.) im pretty sure the print i used was distinctly black in comparison to the brown foe prints found from another location. these havent sporulated yet.
i went print>agar>T-1>wbs>coir h.poo. after a little consolidation cased with peat moss/verm. it was spawned to a tub which was placed inside of another tub and both are slightly ajar.
i think it overlayed pretty hard but pins keep shooting through pretty steadily. water definitely wouldnt penetrate until i gave it a little stabby stab. (was trying to bottom water after the first couple of pins shriveled up and aborted.) i think it was too much fae and maybe wasnt field capacity i was gently misting daily though.
so, watered that bottom ( ), water soaked right up then i decreased the fae, and continue to mist.
this was my first pan pin!

and the next

(confidence grown!)
then got to here

(unbiasedly questioned my newly found confidence from an unbiased perspective)
then arrived to the conclusion my unbi-ASSed opinion was correct and i was neglecting my children

but now i pay child support

and they forgave daddy

but they want to make sure we dont forget that daddys retarded

daddy better not find out that theyre dirty stepchildren (aka pan foes)

i know its basically a journal sorry. ill move it there if anyone is displeased with my long ass post.

Well done! Thanks for the little cultivation journey. Be sure to take a spore print and check for other key identifying characteristics before gobbling up a bunch!

first outdoor success (albeit a small one). I assume it's Bisporus. Can you confirm.
