What do you guys think?
Been trying to get this culture to work for nearly a year. I got the myc clear of a powdery contam a few months back. Cold weather made it near impossible to move to grain...
Anyway. If a fruit doesn't come from the 10-15 plates that I have. I will call it a day.
EDIT: It would suck but it is just a bad idea to keep going with no results.

Nice job Roscoe, I think there is a 10g+ pan thread somewhere?

That looks like it could fruit but tbh I would sugges finding better/easier to fruit genetics and the process will be less of a hassle. Don't give up

Is there any particular difference between all the varieties ie. Panaeolus Bisporus, Panaeolus Cambodginiensis, Panaeolus Cyanescens? Is any particular variety more potent than the others? How do they compare to each other and which in your opinion are the least "demanding" in terms of cultivation difficulty?

Re-posting this to here to get an answer.
I have a race track locally where you can collect horse dung for free, so was wanting to pick some up... however, I have heard that it turns out just as good if you use coir for panaeolus cyanescens.
I have a ridiculous amount of coir at home as is... so should I even bother with horse shit?

Any differences are quite subtle, and are more dependent on culture selection. (Whatever segments you end up transferring from germination plates) As of now, Mystery SA seems to be the most challenging Pan to cultivate, but all of the other ones are relatively friendly, assuming you are starting with a clean print that isn't too old.

Manure can help quite a bit as long as it's well aged. It's not necessary to get fruits, but I would still recommend it for Pans. Look for the oldest manure pile you can find. If you can't find any that's old enough, I would begin aging it yourself, and proceed with coir only for now.

I just took a poke of this NecD culture to some LC broth and sent the rest to a jar of WBS. The grains will be used for EF-Tek cakes and the LC for Pan Cakes. Thanks for the print Roscoe!

I use coir and/or straw with bagged compost. I'd guess you could use old coffee grounds instead of the compost but haven't tested yet.

Much better than this, brother.... Look at my trays..shit's getting ridiculous now That said, BVI/TTBVI are typically smaller and thinner than other varieties, frankly. for what I've experienced growing them, as long as your conditions/variables are dialed in, you'll get some fruits.

Could I have success growing Copelandia Jamaican mushrooms with grain, manure and straw? Ensuring a subtropical terrarium and near 100% humidity?
Thanks guy, new here and happy to have you intelligent folks to help me.

Yes but for good results you will want to case your substrate once colonized, if you don't want to make a traditional casing (50/50 peat+verm PH adjusted to around 7), you can buy "jiffy mix" seed starter mix and case with that or something similar. There are lots of teks shared here on how to grow pans.

Terrible genetics, sir my pick of the MS plate turned out to be problematic indeed... First time I've seen them doing those little funky ass iceberg type of stroma.. at least with Pans. I've encountered similar situations with my beloved Natalensis but they'll fruit regardless
Keep in mind, this particular type of nuisance is ACTIVE... that tea left me speechless for a few hours
