I can feel 50mg of my Bisporus no problem. At their potency that can still be 2-3mg of total alkaloids.

Recently germinated some BVI spores …
They were obviously ready to pop!

Many thanks to Ppancho for the print.

(Thank you again to Bambus for the BVI print… I have not put yours on agar yet).

Ok sorry about two posts in a row...
I'm just routinely pleased and intrigued by the odd shape of the komodo fruits. The stipe gets thicker as it goes up and also the wild wavy caps. Is this just my culture doing the stipe thing or are others seeing this too?

I'm sourcing manure in dfw Texas. Many of the free local pickups are saying composted manure. I have read I should look for field dried horse manure. There's also composted manure (90% compost and not less than 10% manure) ultra cheap at the hardware store. I intend to call local feed stores to see if they have a supply of manure and straw if the above is not appropriate.

In this case they are in a fruiting set up like JCM's tek. A large tote with water in the bottom heated to 81-82F with an aquarium heater. There are also aquarium bubblers in the bottom to bring in fresh air and to contribute to humidity. The large tote has ventilation holes and also a computer fan that forces in fresh air and provides evaporation for 10 minutes per hour. Ive misted a bit when it looks like the fan is too drying.
I have also fruited these in a mono tub and a Martha and even a roast chicken container at room temperature with success:

Thank you.
I also wanted to try a monotube, but I don't know if it will be possible in the conditions I have here.
humidity: 15-20%

Monotub

It's not a tube.

The purpose of a monotub is to create the correct environment.

I got some pan cyan BVI on agar, wonder what you guys think. First transfer from swab plates. The black dishes are 1% ME, the crappy looking ones are GWA poured too cold.

Is it too early to say what to pick here? I guess the myc really likes the grain water. Is this growth too dense - should it be more wispy?

Going slowly with my BVI.. I waited a few days and put those yellow (GWA) plates to grain. The growth was around an inch in diameter. I also made some T2 plates, this time on a grain/potato mix agar, pics below. Couple of questions:

- The growth here seems much slower than what I see posted here. These T2 plates are 10 days old. Temps have been around 19-22C.
- I get airial growth.. From what I understand this is not ideal. Should I just try another round of putting these in small grain jars?

So...

Long time not post in this thread. Cold weather causing slower growth.

My part of the world is warming up and all the mini-monos and jars have responded.

I was having a hard time cleaning up the culture I have... In spite of the winter tempratures the culture has managed to colonise sub at okay rates. Maybe I am becoming better at selecting growth on plates too.

I am just throwing what ever I can find at this culture. Something has to work right. All these went to fruiting environments...

Still looking hoping for half a dozen prints and enough for an adventure with a friend.

should I even bother? I swear, I'm just about done with filthy wbs. No matter the precautions, it's shit. Burst grains no matter what or always some contamination, clean tek or not. These look like it got fought enough that it shouldn't be an issue, but what's it matter? I'm dead wrong regardless. I've bought estero and blue venom... My best spores yet have been Goliath and I can't get them to do anything but rot in my current grow situation. I guess... Here goes. Can't wait to trich out.

Technique1

What sort of gas exchange do you have on those jars? Also they seem to be full of WBS all the way to the top… it’s better to leave 1/4 to 1/3  empty. How are you preparing your WBS (before PC and PC technique).
Providing more detail would enable folks to help you better. It can be frustrating when contamination seems to trip you up at every turn. By systematically analyzing your processes you can generally determine at what point the contamination is being introduced or not eliminated.
