Hello! Who has had experience with panaeolus, share - which panaeolus is the fastest growing? Have you been able to grow pans in less than a month? For example, 3 weeks from inoculation? How and which strain did you grow the fastest? Intuition tells me that Pan Jamaica is the fastest growing. Is this true? Or are there any faster?

Hello,
I'm getting back into growing mushrooms and decided that I will give panaeolus cyanescens a try. So I bought a growkit online and I'm planning on printing, making spore syringes and innoculating some spawn later on.
First flush of the kit seems to go well but the fruits are odd. They seemingly have a hard time to mature and open the caps correctly. Caps are so little compared to the stems, still brownish, it's like they almost aborted. They look very dry on the sides in close-up. However we can see some spores on the picture, so I think I'll be able to have some decent prints from the most good looking fruits. Any input on what is going wrong with this kit ? Most likely too low humidity or fae ? Or temperatures ? Humidity does not look bad given the condensation on the casing layer.
We can also see that the second flush is coming on strong and I'm not sure how I will be able to water the kit without spraying on them. Should I water a bit with a syringe and squirting clean water where there are no pins ?

Thank you all for your inputs and hints.
Edit : the biggest caps seem to have printed fairly well within a few hours. I'll let them print until tomorrow morning. I don't think there is fae problem since I don't have fuzzy feet. Humidity should be right too. It might be way too hot in the room, temperatures can go as high as 95Β°F/35Β°C. Well I might have toasted them. They say 80F max for fruiting in the cultivation parameters. Any chance I've lost significant potency ? Not that it matters, It's just for the spores anyways.

This is not about rush. I gonna take shrooms with my buddy and wanna take them fresh. He comes to me just in one month. I gonna grow spawn on grains and then do FC with horse poo and coco coir. My fastest shroom was Wild coast africa but I didn't like their vibe. Thanks.

Hello I have some TTBVI sequels here. Tray #2 already has some bigger fruit

I will try to make a clone

Tray #3 #4 is threads again My cakes overlapped like crazy, but something is popping out.

And the two smaller Huasteca trays start with pins.

I still covered the bisporus yesterday, so I'll take pictures next time.

I do see spotty bruising on the stems in the first photo but no spores yet. Anyway, good you took some prints early but IME they continue developing till the caps turn a light, beige/white color so there is still a chance that these caps are going to open up more.

If the caps do not open sufficiently to obtain a spore print, you can always try cloning them on agar : Frank's Proper Cloning Tek

I wanted to let them mature more but after this stage they just stalled and the second flush was coming. I'll try to leave the second flush be a bit more time to see if they can mature more. Temperatures should not be as crazy as during the maturation of the first flush.

I would have a hard time cloning a little pan like that personally (shaky hands, poor eyesight). Someone in the stone producers thread suggested opening the stipe and laying it openside down on water agar. No tools, no sanitizer. I tried this with Tamps recently and it worked great.

My TEK can also work for hard-to-clone species. But the suggestion by Thirdeye is as simple as it gets and can get the job done

Or do a Josex style poke to get a sample on agar. That would work well too.

Great to see you VL! Iβm not coming on much myself so maybe Iβve just missed you posting recently.
Beautiful grows and photography - as usual!
I came on to share an observation. This is only an observation at this point. Not a tek or recommendation.
I had a bit of Pan Cyan grain spawn that stuck to the bottom of a 1/4 pint jar. I had recently purchased a bag of steer manure compost at Home Depot for a very low price ($3.95) with the thought that I would use my sou vide set up to pasteurize it for pans. I thought why not just throw some right out of the bag onto the left over grain? I added a spritz of water to it. To my surprise it took off quickly and there was no contamination. After it colonized the first bit I put another layer on and it quickly gre through that. Next Iβm going to case it and put it in a MacMeridanβs style fruiting chamber.

What is the ring about? Is it metabolites? Is it the marking of pans?
