Bisporus pins on 20% elk poo and 80% coir. I harvested the elk poo at just the right season when their diet is very fibrous. Once things start greening up mid spring the elk become more omnivorous and have access to softer vegetation so the poo is gooey and unsuitable. So you want that late winter, early spring poo. Fun fact: doe and bull poop is different. Doe poop is tapered on both ends and bull poop has one dimpled end on each pellet. I used bull poop 💩

Can't remember any posts about keeping fully colonized substrates in the fridge.
Tuff one.
Yeah I think i'm erring on the side of fruit on departure day.
I have three little tubs of colonised substrate so I figure sunday I'll put one into fruiting to try and dial in, Monday I'll put the other in.
The third I think I will put in the fridge and stick it into fruiting when I get back for science .
Hopefully something works - I feel i've found decent genetics this time tho and still have the culture so will get it to grain again just in case also got my manure and pasteurisation tek etc down now so all good

Put some discarded agar plates and screwed grains of Pan Peace river and pan bi in some flower pots with hay and llama poo. Some very nice pans fruiting outside. Fruits are very small but a lot of them. Hoping some bigger ones the next flushes. Funny is they are growing and fruiting much better than the cubes I did the same with at the same time.

The density of that flush is so sexy

It helps to be where they grow wild also. But I have yet to find a wild one yet this year. Cant wait to see how the pots go

My Bisporus sub went completely green. There goes my experiment with sterilizing the sub instead of pasteurizing Glad I have a compost bin.

i never had issue with green
this is what my surface looks like.

and now i am scared because its coming from TC
is it all flukes?

I sterilize too, usually bags of bulk get 2hrs @ 15psi. I mix my spawn into the bag in front of my fan.

Hey Pan growers and pan hopefuls like me...
I would like to believe that I might be close to getting some mushrooms to print. So, herewith an update.
In my last update, I had 3 sets of hopeful-jars.
Here they are again. Going to two different format 1 liter containers and on Ikea samla like 5 quart tub. For each set two went to bulk and one stayed behind to become a master jar if that set fruits.
In the pics the one jar is shaken and one not.
 PCN3-1
 PCN3-2
 PCN3-3
 All done.
Sub is Coir/dung/compost/verm - 5:1:1:2 by volume. Pasteurised for 4 hours. (Frank Horrigans way). Spawn/Sub ratio - 1:2.5 Aroma was clean, light mushroom. I think I get the cucumber I read about somewhere - my partner had a sparkling water that was flavoured with cucumber... It smelt like that cucumber, not freshly sliced cucumber. Anyway, it smelled great.
No sign of the powdery contam of before.
Here's hoping.
(If that doesn't work there are another 15 jars that are recovering very well after a shake on the 24th. And 4 more noc'd on the 25th. And a pile of about 12 plates from round 3 (PCN3) and 7 from round 4 (PCN4). All free of the powdery growth.)
EDIT: All this work and growing is happening between 16C and 18C

Perhaps it was something else, idk. I've gotten green before, even with pasteurization, so who knows.

I wouldn't call this sterilizing though. Are you measuring the core temperature in your substrate bags? Depending on the size of your bags this could be a perfect pasteurization.

Sounds like you are spawning under sterile conditions though.

Yes sir, I only want one type of organism eating my bulks.
Pulled some Peace River and bisporus this morning, they dried to about 3%.

That is how it should be when sterilizing, I assume Adas and pesa are talking open air.

i do like 5kg or 11 pound of substrate which is mainly compost wood and 10% coir, on my side of the planet coir is expensive the cheapest thing i could find is compost wood. at 160c or the core can reach up to 102c or 230f after 60 minutes i take it out, i am still glad i am doing perfect pasteurization sweet

Ah OK so the core temp goes up way over pasteurizing temperatures which is more like 60C, but looks like it's working great and that is all that counts.
