If it were me, I would transfer from the colony at the bottom, or 6 o'clock position...I would probably take the cuts from the 1 o'clock to almost 3 o'clock areas from this colony.

But really there seems to be a number of areas to cut from there. I can't offer an in depth analysis but if you have the plates, time and space than consider cutting from multiple colonies and watch/grow it out.

Results are in:
Not sure if it was the hpoo, the grain water, or not cling wrapping the plates but if I had to make a guess, it would be the grain water. Cultures are no longer stalling.

Unfortunately that was the only culture that grew out nice and symmetrically like that. My bvi plates look clean but mostly all grow like this

Im thinking maybe the hpoo made the nutrient levels not uniform across the plate. Going to try without hpoo next time.
Regardless, put the PC plate to 2 jars and the best growth of the BVI plate to 1 jar.
Not going to say pan myc wont grow on LMA because clearly people are doing it and making it work. But in my experience they all stall out every time. First try with GWA and had success. No plates stalled.

Hey Aspect,
Looking good. Glad to hear you are finding answers/solutions.
I did a small batch of Sorghum jars with cow-poo to get some grain water. 50/50 dilution. The plates that look like they dont have the "powdery contam" will go to 10 new plates tomorrow.
An update from my side. The jar that got the colony that had the "powdery contam" now looks like this - 5 days from transfer.
 other side

And next to the two jars that received agar pieces from different plates the same day
The jar that got the suspect agar seems to be growing at the speeds I have read about. My concern is that it is quite cold here now. My grow area averages 17C by day. Unless the cow-dung in with the grain has that effect.
Again, any comment welcome.
(When I have freed up some plates, I will do a small batch of water agar.)

I typically use WBS, and I have noticed that the millet will often times look like that. I think it is colonized, but due to the really hard shell, it looks uncolonized. I've always sent spawn to bulk when it looks like that, and have had decent success. (I've had some contamination before, like anyone, but I don't think it's because of the millet.)

Thanks a lot for the print. No problem with cleaning it up - I use agar from the beginning

Some helps from experienced Panaeolus Bisporus growers are appreciated.
Agar plates will be ready soon and need to prepare some bulk grain and fruiting substrate.
I happen to have a good amount of Douglas fir sawdust pallets and straws and want to try both and compare.
I've read some threads and made a plan:
- Use grain:sawdust = 7:3. PC 90min @ 15psi - Manure:sawdust/straw:verm = 41:41:18. Pasteurization 12hrs @ 72-75 Celsius, wait for five days. - (Casing layer) Peat moss:verm = 10:10(+ 1 gypsum). Same pasteurization.
Is it good to go?
Thanks!

Hey there Sonson! Good luck with everything you got goin Growmie!!! I hope everybody has had a good weekend and all you panheads are up to your ears in mush!!! I started a jar with some agar that looked good. Since my luck hasn't been great I decided to do agar at the same time I was gonna do the grain. I streaked 10 plates and dropped agar to the grain jar. Hurry up and wait folks!! 😎✌️

Hey I have a question for anyone who is growing or has grown Pan Bisporus, I often see these mushrooms with the caps far opened and sometimes inverted. Is it ok to let them grow to this point or will I be losing potency if I do so?
Basically..when Is ideal time to harvest this species? thank you.

Hard to tell but my BVI jar that I suspected was stalled is recovering nicely after a shake. If it rebounds completely Im planning on spawning it wednesday to manure/cvg via liquid pasteurization tek.

Should be good. Bisporus isn't too picky. Mine even colonized (pure) Spruce shavings after spawning some to it, although slowly due to their very low density.

I used to pick them before inverting, now I let them do their thing. Potency isn't an issue - just work on your technique and soon you'll have more than you could ever consume.
