If that plate was mine, I'd say contam. Maybe transfer a tiny piece from the newest growth to water agar and see what happens. For me, usually mycelium that stalls has a hidden contam, sometimes enmeshed with good mycelium.

If need be, go back to spore and start those on water agar.

Good luck!

So I'm also looking at potential LC for pans, I saw someone make their LC's (I forgot who - sorry) in a grain water style by grinding up their grain into a type of flour.

Im wondering if I could use millet flour from the indian shop in my LC seeing as I usually use millet as my grain? Or maybe even do a 50/50 with LME... I should really write stuff down as can't remember if I put 1g LME or 0.5g last time

Was thinking of trying 0.5gLME 0.5g Millet flour to 250ml water ... anyone tried this kind of thing?

Or maybe just go 1g millet flour hmmmm :rasta:

The flour should work fine as a nutrition source but the drawback would be a hazy LC (I'd guess) that would make it difficult to see contamination. I don't make LCs myself but have read of people using LME or Karo's and sometimes a pinch of agar if you'd like to make SSLC.

When you all are looking for fast moving pans mycelium on agar, do you germinate spores on many plates or should you only germinate on a few plates, make a bunch of transfers from the germination plates and then see what grows out the quickest?

I've seen varying speeds between the two strains I've been growing(estero and BVI) but they haven't really been lightning fast on agar.

I usually have a lot going on so I start a couple plates and make transfers from there. Then again, I'm an 'if it's clean, run it!' guy so I don't isolate mycelium growth either. Mycelium on grain or in bulk may behave different than it did on agar.

Actually a tough one Smalltalk, I'm guessing your environmental conditions are throwing it off a bit. The fact that it has been fruiting for 5 months and the shiny stipes makes me think subtrop but the caps stop me. Both the open and unopened seem off but that might be environmental.

Test the mush, you should know pretty well by the end of your trip! If not, grow some mycelium for a couple months and test that.

Hey, aloha! 🤙🏼Quick question for you more experienced Pan cyan guys—is there any meaningful difference between BVI and TTBVI? I know that TTBVI has got a lot of attention lately for being the most potent psychoactive mushroom variety, and I wasn't certain if TTBVI is equivalent to BVI? I'm finally having some success growing Pans (Estero and Peace River), so of course I want to attempt an even bigger boi in terms of potency. 😹

Try Pan Bisporus, a beautiful arse kicking mushroom!

I'd also recommend a slow fruiting Subtropicalis too.

Good luck!

Oh, those are on my list, too—I wanna try everything eventually. I was curious about TTBVI, because I seem to have a higher natural tolerance than most people, and it takes me more to get the same effect. Now I'm really curious about Pan bisporus, too.

AFAIK, TTBVI and BVI are them same but I could be wrong. I think the BVI that tested so high had a * next to it. I think it was a thread here where they talked about the BVI being fresh picked vs dried samples. Even the age of the standards used by the machine had questions about them. Not to say BVI is not strong though.

I believe Asura mentioned as for strength, Pan cyan 'Wild Coast' caught him by surprise. NEC-D seems to be another favorite. I like Ho'okipa too, just for its sheer beauty and seemingly happy nature.

So many to try!

Hey there you filthy panheads!! Happy Friday to y'all. Just wanna thank everyone for chiming in on the plates vs jars for agar. Even though I'm a bit frustrated with the grain thing I am elated at the generosity of everyone here. Even if I'm making clusterfuck situations over here y'all ain't mean or jeering. Just know it's appreciated. As someone struggling with the pans vs cubes the kindness of strangers doesn't go unnoticed. Just know you're appreciated!! I hope your tents and totes and pans are full of pans this weekend!! Until the next episode..... Hurry up and wait!! 😎✌️

Thanks YoshiTrainer,
It went to the bin after the pic was taken.

This is the third round of returning-to-spore(syringe). This is the last round. It just ties up too many plates. Some generous members have put some spores in the post. Being on the bottom half of the globe means it takes months to get here but I can deal.

Because I am stubborn, I will probably make a small set water agar all-the-same.

Thanks again

I have successfully grown BVI but haven't tried it yet. I also grew NECs and gave them a try 2 wks ago (2.0g) and that was a solid reset.

Fucking Gnats.  I'd be very tempted to take it outside and shoot it with a shotgun just for the satisfaction. Little bastards get into EVERYTHING.
Great looking mushrooms though.  Someday....

This doesn't look like cobweb to me but I could be wrong. My guess would be that the fruiting conditions just aren't dialed in right. What are you fruiting in?

I actually have a Marta, 76f and 50% humidity which I was going to raise when I took the lid off.  But it never got there. All that white stuff showed up in just a few days then it stalled.  The cake is also dry and shrinking, this happens over and over again, even with humidity in the 80’s.  My spawn to sub ratio was 1:3 but I’m thinking of going 1:5.

Oh and that stuff that looks like mold is suspended though, kinda like a spiderweb.  Smells like wet dirt btw

Check out how dense my cube blocks have been getting in the next post
