I looked around, nobody has pan spores at all.
I found some in 30 seconds:
https://sporeworks.com/Panaeolus-Copelandia-Spore-Syringes/?mega=y
They dont ship to my location.

Spore begging is against forum rules, and it's especially suspicious from a brand new account with three posts.
You have been given the information you need to find pan spores.
Thankx you for your input. Unfortunately sporework not sent in normal letter to my location but someone gave me information where to get spores.

Thanks JHOVA.. I knew I saw that somewhere.
Can someone with experience comment about the wet vs dry trip experience? Is there anything to these comments I come across about fresh being different than the dried pans? Or do you find it to be the same? Temperatures during drying make a difference or no (<115°F vs 140°-150°F)?

IME, I have not seen a drastic difference between fresh vs. dried pans. (Taking into account the fresh vs. dried weight.) I always dried mine at the highest setting my dehydrator goes, which is 155 degrees F. I do pull them out as soon as they are cracker dry. The small ones only take an hour, and big ones only take around 2 hours. It's a lot different than drying cubes that can take 12 hours or more. I use a timer or else I forget about them!

My experience is fresh is better, only for trivial reasons. Dry is just fine, the most important thing is to know the water content difference to accurately dose fresh/dry mushrooms.
I've read through quite a few reports and a lot of people have said the fresh trips felt better.

Will pans pin on agar plates with no manure involved?

Someone's posted of it happening, but lots of experienced users have said they've never had a pan pin on agar plate, so it's possible but very rare.

not much goin on here, just spawned a jar of mystery SA pans and have a few other jars colonizing wbs rn. ....wasn't certain what would be my best sub option and pasteurized both coir/manure and a coir/sawdust for sb.
Thinking I should start looking around for other containers rather than shoeboxes also, at least for pans.

You can do that no problem, or transfer a whole grain. You ran out of culture plates?

My Pan plates always stall seemingly without reason. They never nake it to the edge of any plate. Any ideas? There's never any signs of contam as far as I can tell. Agar is 1.3 g agar and 0.75 g LME per 100 mL dH2O

Yea I'd like to know what causes this, I'm working with quite a few varieties at he same time, and some have gone all the way to the edge. Others have stalled, baba yaga help?

It happens for me on agar, grain and in LC. I think Hindsight had cultures seemingly stall on grain as well and a shake took care of it.
This is what I said a year ago
Quote:
Baba Yaga said: Pan cultures are stalling for me as well at different points of the process, sometimes on agar, sometimes on grain and as you have experienced a fresh transfer will grow out normal again. My cultures do seemingly stall on grain sometimes and a shake jump starts growth again and they work out great in the end.
I can't give you an explanation why this is and it seems to me that it happens more with fluffy cultures, all I know is that it's not necessarily a sign that something is wrong. That is probably the reason why pans are considered tricky. They do weird stuff for now obvious reason like stall on agar or grain, recover weakly after a late shake, culture appearance on agar can change significantly with slightly different recipes. It's confusing sometimes as those harmless phenomena do resemble the signs that point towards a contamination. Hard to develop a gut feeling with all this going on and also hard to give advice on these things as photos are just not enough to differentiate between good and bad when it comes to make a call. That's why I think it's important to sometimes see things through with a couple of questionable cultures or jars just to get this first hand experience which is always a plus in the experience/knowledge department, regardless the outcome.
OK, I go and ban myself now for a few weeks.

You touched on a good point I forgot to mention. If I take a transfer from this stalled plate, it will start growing without issue on the new one.
So you're saying I should just put cultures like this to grain anyway?

Since I've switched to using real petri dishes instead of jars, I've not had any cultures stall toward the edge. I wonder if it has to do with agar depth change that occurs with jars and condiment cups?

This helps me unravel the mystery of why they were ever considered tricky if it was just some slight change in growth parameters. I never even considered how much different the myc growth can be as a factor.
Good news as to experience is I just pasteurized some peat/verm/lime with a 10:10:1 mix. In anticipation for my 27qt to need it very soon. I expected the growth to come in fast and fluffy and past attempts, I just didn't see it. Could be just wishful thinking but I'm excited to see how it turns out, even if I get contam, nothing will stop me from getting pan fruits eventually.
