Here's my first Pan grow. I wanted to grow try these for a very long time, but never got to it. Luckily, the stars aligned and I scored a BVI print on the marketplace. I'll be doing a giveaway soon to return the favor. Thank you to all that contributed to this thread π.

Well Done Bambus!
That is a remarkably good tub by any standard, but the fact it is your first pan grow is a testament to how well you studied the lessons of others and how well you observe and listen to these myco Friends of ours.

Iβve always wondered what is considered to be too dry or too wet, as it relates to casing layers. Below are pictures of my current trays, which I placed into fruiting conditions three days ago. The casing appears to be glistening with water, but there arenβt pools of standing water (at least from what I can tell). When I tip the trays over, no water pours out. Would love to get everyoneβs feedback: too dry, too wet, or just right?

I live in a very dry climate, so my cycle times are as follows: - 3 min fog - 2 min fan (comes on during last 1:30 of fog), pumping in fresh air from outside of tent; humid air is pushed out bottom of tent - 7 min rest - Total cycle time = 10 min

Question about your fruiting conditions. How colonized was your sub before you cased it? I have about 5 or 6 trays right now and they all seem to be colonizing but not as fast as expected I guess. It's been about 5 or 6 days it think its about, idk about 70%. I'm floating the idea if casing them now and then waiting until the other trays are ideally closer to 100% to case and compare the differences. Also don't want to open the lids unless I'm about to case as well but willing to take the risk if it's not as harmful as you think. Opinions?

Well I took a little chance and so far it is turning out well. As you may remember Iβm trying to fruit a MS tub of Pan Camb var Komodo island. I had them in a room that was about 75-77 degrees.
Last night I thoughtβ¦ βI bet itβs damn hot on the island of Komodo!β
Then I googled it and sure enough itβs a lot hotter than 75 -77 degrees. So I put my tub in a Martha and cranked up the heat to 85 degrees (hot I know! ) and in less than 24 hours I went from no sign of pins to a flush 1/2-2 inchβs high!
I also trained a humidifier exhaust at a hole in the side of the tub to avoid drying out. Now I hope they make it to maturity!

Hot stuff indeed! Nice work Psilo!
I have some Bisporus jars colonized. I'll be spawning them to bulk and using that to inoculate some stuff outdoors. My mate knows a nice horse shit pile in the forest, so he'll take care of that one. I'm super excited because from the photos it looks like ideal habitat for these babies.
As always, I'll keep y'all updated in case anything works.

One of the things that most excited me about the Pan Cambodginiensis var Komodo is the shape of the caps. Those in the know may recall the the caps are wavy on the edges and that the wavy characteristic appears before the caps become plane. I can see these phenotypes starting to emerge as the fruits mature. Two of these photos are from a small tray - not the tub I showed before.

The caps are coming the caps are coming!

The caps remind me a bit of those slouchy hats you sometimes see hippie chicks wearing.
Like the one I just found when I googled "slouchy hippie chick hat" https://www.facebook.com/janethenry60/
On a more serious note. The caps on these are considerably smaller than the ones that Jakeoncid showed in his first grow / introduction to this variety:::
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26827097
Since this is a MS tub and the phenotypes are so consistent, I will definitely pin the difference on an environmental parameter. Specifically I suspect the CO2 levels were too high during the fruit development. I am definitely not providing the ideal environment - I can't set things up exactly as I would like due to my in laws being in my way. Because I was worried about possibly drying them up I erred on the side of having less FAE. If I had the option of effectively pumping in very humid FAE on a cycle, I suspect I would have bigger caps. Of course, Jakeoncid may have provided superior nutrition somehow, but I think the substrate I used was pretty nutritious. It was about 50 % horse manure, 30 % coir 10 % course vermiculite, and 10 % hemp pet bedding - all at field capacity and pasteurized for about 12 hours at 165 F.

I forgot to note that this tray has zero grains...if anyone cares to know. I got around to testing these out, and I have to say I am a fan. Started cautiously with .5, then a full gram over the past few weeks. I ate 1.25(+ .25 PE added for a dash of body buzz) a couple of hours ago and it's feeling pretty solid. Shadows and wood-grain moving all over if I focus on them, but very clear minded still.

Yeah, I do Angam did zero grain grows a while back. Does zero grain mean no nutrients added to the manure substrate? Would be nice to hear about your process in detail.

Bigger caps would be awesome for sure but this pin set is veeery nice.
Of course I am curious about one thing. Since you kept these in a tub but placed them in your martha did you provide anything else actively like humidity and FAE or was this just to keep them at a higher temperature?
This pan bottle is sitting on my desk and lightens my mood whenever I look at it, especially when doing tax stuff like for the last two days.

I inoculated sterilized bags of manure/straw/verm with LC, then laid to trays when fully colonized. Now I'm having doubts though, it's possible I may have added some rice bran to them...but I feel like I didn't, because I think I remember re-reading through the sterilized bag teks, realizing I forgot to put grain in, and wondering if that would fuck it Now I really don't know, but I am tripping, after all. This is why I need to actually take notes and shit...
