Well I inspected my jars this morning and found a unwanted guest. Bummer; only jar like this, I did move my jars to my basement bathroom and put a room heater in there set to 76 degrees. To keep a more steady temp for them. Before they were just in a cabinet in the kitchen but the Temps fluctuate ao much I thought it might be hindering growth we will see.

gonna be spawning some tubs this weekend... figured I'd brew a compost tea for a couple days then hydrate my coir with it, and pasteurize... just to see if it works... there will be 0% poo in my substrate, just the microbes and beneficial bacteria from the poo and some straw ... trying this for shits and giggles... not really expecting much, but in theory it should work (since I'm kinda building a cow turd)... not sure how well though..

A couple BRF/verm jars I used to start the Mystery Pan from SA. I already took transfers from them so for fun, I cased one with Asura's recipe and added some straw fines/Wpoo to the other. Fingers crossed!

I have these transfer plates from MS inoculations from two separate Komodo prints. They are all on the slow side for pans. They both have one type of mycelium that is nearly transparent and maybe a tiny bit faster. Do you folks think it should be transferred and studied separately?

I would transfer... but that's me, I'm not too experienced with pans too much though Psilo

My man right here, currently have a few plates going so to expand would be fantastic!

I inoculated this around the 9th with pan cyan rainbow eucalyptus with an agar wedge from my second transfer plate. Looked clean and shook it almost 3 days ago at 30 percent and she bounced back nicely. Best bet is to use it as a master jar when she's all ready.

I have one jar that is doing very well after shake, I contemplated using it as a master grain jar but I want to spawn that mf asap lol. You think I could use 3/4 of the jar for spawning and leave the remaining 1/4 has a g2g jar for the future to speed things up? I also was thinking of just making LC as the myc is very fluffy and whispy, just have never made my own I'm trying to keep this culture as long as possible since it originally came from a swab and is long gone.

I don't see why you couldn't do that, it's a good idea. I'm just getting back into it. I have another jar that's pretty much the same I was thinking about using to do a tray to get it going as well. I have time though to maybe use both jars as masters and get 18 or so jars ready. I still need to wait for extra money to buy some tools for pasteurization , so getting a bunch of jars ready would probably be a good use of time.

For those growing pans in a martha, it sounds like the most popular misting option is a disc fogger, followed by an ultrasonic humidifier. Can someone help me understand why?
Also, there seems to be a lot of opposition on other threads against using reptile foggers — why is this? I tried researching but couldn’t find any deeper context other than people just saying to not use them.

Hey friends - need some advice on what these yellowish blobs are on my Pan Cyan Estero trays! I'm using a JOC tek Martha with 6 trays of Pan Cyan Estero in horse manure and straw substrate cased with 50/50 verm and peat moss. I have a bunch of pins but they are all aborting
Currently have the tent humidity tightened to 93-95% RH since the pins have already started. I'm misting with a water-filled tote with some ultrasonic disks and ducting into the tent with a computer fan blowing mist up the side of the tent - letting it gently fall down on the trays.
Am I misting too much causing aborts? Are they contaminated by yellow blob monsters and I'm screwed? Any advice would be great

The bluing mycelium could indicate that the surface is getting stressed. Is the surface drying out in between the misting cycles? Pins don't react well when they are getting too dry. But the overall look of the trays appears not healthy to me. I find this type of dense pin clusters in combination with aborting fruits always suspicious. I had this happening a few times never got anything out of these grows. One photo for comparison.

Don't know what is causing this if it is a multi spore grow then contamination is more likely. Those blobs are weird, can you pick one of them out and take a macro shot?
Just my opinion, let someone else comment before taking any next steps.
Some more info would help. How did you inoculate your grain, got any photos of your cultures?

Thanks for the reply Baba (loved your Pan Cyan monotub writeup btw!)
I did MSS to Agar - agar to grain (75% bird seed and 25% rye berries)
I don't have a great agar culture to share but I do have some spare fully colonized jars. I'll try to get a better pic of the blob monsters too. I'll try tweezering one off... stand-by

Looks like it might be a slime mold. It's small enough that I can't tell if it's simply a drop of metabolites being held together by its own surface tension but that last picture makes it look like it has a shape. If you touch it does it feel a bit like jello? If so, it's probably a slime mold.
