Great job! Those are sweet looking fruits. Nice caps.

Always happy to see normal looking Esteros instead of the jellyfish mutation or whatever you want to call it.

Planning to take some clones of this tray if it looks good

Cased 48 hours ago and put straight into the jcm, currently sitting at about 76F.

Wondering if it looks dry though. I misted it too heavily after casing and ended up dumping out some of the water pooled at the bottom of the tray a couple hours after misting

Glistening casing. Looks pretty much bang on for my taste.

Im inexperienced with pan myc. These Pan Cyan BVI plates are throwing some cauliflower blobs. Can you guys say whether pans ever blob/overlay, or are these trash?

Thanks!

More of this Nec D overlay. Straw, hpoo, verm & wheat Muda bottles. Cased these bottles a week after 100% colonization with verm/peat/lime. Four days later I get this. Just bad genetics? Anything I can do to these? I’m going back to spore yet again.

Fruits can and will grow out of the overlay. Just let them do their thing.

Egon I have never had any pan plates looking like that and it looks a bit like mold to my eyes. Like in that first picture if you look from 9:00 to 12:00 toward the outer edge, do you see how disorganized and spread-out that mycelium looks? That's one of the ways you can differentiate mold from actives. There may be some pan mycelium in there too but it looks like it's sharing its space with mold.

Thanks hindsight, aside from not having read about these tall/dense-looking blobs, that general lack of uniformity was also part of my concern. There’s a learning curve when developing these skills with new species and genera.

I appreciate your input, I’ll start a couple new plates and hope for some more uniform growth.

Thanks for the welcome, it's been a good Monday.ive been learning about growing pans a lot today. I'm feeling over confident, but with all the great info here, and as long as stick to the instructions I'm sure to get some pans.

I know its hard to tell from photos but I am at 5 days after casing and it looks like it has colonized well but not seeing any pins.

I am in a martha fresh air provided by a 120mm fan pulled through a hepa filter pushing down over the trays, on 15minutes off 15 minutes. humidifier runs 15 minutes every 45 minutes. Heat is a constant 80deg F.

Other grows I know now were not getting enough humidity and were drying out. This the trays are heavy still and look like they have enough water, though they do seem to be pulling away from the sides. For cubes this starts happening for me about the time they fruit around the end of their first flush.

Here are shots of my trays now...

Any ideas, is it to little air exchange? That is about the only thing I can think of at this point. should I try and case it again? I don't see myc like this on pans its ussually growing through the casing.

I can't recommend a pair of digital repeat cycle timers enough. That will let you dial in your cycles to whatever you want, and they will hold their alternating sync perfectly.

I got a pair of them for $25 shipped, from the site offering free Prime Membership trials. I used it just to get the free shipping and then canceled the day they timers showed up.

Just don't get the analog repeat cycle timers. They don't hold sync and don't offer nearly as much precision as the digital ones do.

Yeah I have one digital and one analog timer. FEA is on the analog timer, but I will replace as I hate that thing.

Any hope for this to fruit this time around or is that bad overlay?

Definitely let it ride. I've seen pictures of much worse overlay that still fruited.

I followed JOC Tek with some minor changes. My setup would run: fogger on for ~3 minutes - everything off for ~1 1/2 minutes (allows some fog to settle on casing layer/fruits) - air exchange fan on for ~ 3 minutes - everything off for ~ 7 1/2 minutes. That makes a 15 minute cycle, and you can adjust the fogger on duration, and/or the AE on duration to suit your setup and environment. With my particular setup, the AE fan would blow away too much of the fog if they ran together.

I wouldnt throw it all out just yet. Try to isolate some sectors and see. You can even do the smell test - take a piece of the agar out and rub it with your finger. See if it smells like Pan myc at all (super easy to ID).

Healthy Pan mycelium is wispy and fast moving. Those blobs would indicate something funky going on. Take transfers from the wispy sectors that have no blobs or thick strands. In picture 1, take from the six to seven o’clock area, and on second picture in that section between the blob strands around four o’clock.

Trying to keep my post count under 1000 until my international and non-machinable stamps arrive for a market place give away. But I would like some input on these T1s.

BVI and Bisporus.
First time with pans and planning to try a tub grow a la Baba Yaga. Anything to look for or try to avoid in pan myc selection? I see fast and whispy in the post above. These look pretty uniform in speed for each variety, but different from each other, and not necessarily whispy.

Agar recipe: 7g lme, 8g agar, 400 distilled water.

Hi Folks
I have not been following this thread (or the Shroomery in general) much at all for the past 8-9 months.

Somewhere at the start or early part of the break Jake let us know that he’d dropped a bunch of prints of his Pan Cam Komodo at a certain Shroomery vendor.

I picked up a print and I put spore on agar a couple of weeks ago. I have germination and will be making a few transfers soon.

I’m curious - has anyone in here grown them out? Jake mentioned they were challenging and he was considering making a thread for them, but as far as I know he hasn’t and he didn’t leave any notes in the original post about how he encouraged them to fruit.

--------------------
What are they saying? Listen carefully, it might be something you need to hear...

I am thinking this is metabolite but may be bad, any insight? These are Pan Cyan cased about 6 days ago.

if that is from my give away i had some weird growth on some plates for sure. i went for the wispy stuff, i usually do four plates at a time from a spore print. after about three sets of germination i had six plates set aside with some similar growth, not as universal on the plate but i did see some of that going on. the weird plates never contaminated but, still, weird looking.
